i think Fleetwood mac (the early years)  were far more out there pushing boundaries than the Beatles.   better guttering too. To me the greatest  guitar players are

1) BB king
2) muddy waters
3) David Gilmore
4) Eric "slow hand" Clapton

Muddy was an awesome singer but guitar? I think Hendrix and SRV could run circles around him. Fleetwood Mac pushed the boundries enough for Jimmy Page to rip em off. Whole Lotta Love= Oh Well

someone got there info a bit wrong.

first off, ALL music is ripped off, used, borrowed, the blues and those that did the blues are notorious for this, and then to go and sue Zepp for using a few words from some old blues song that no one ever heard of, please.....classic case of envy.

Led Zeppelin took small bits of what some did and did it better...A LOT better, certainly was not Fleetwood mac though.

and anyone who knows anything about music...should know that Jimmy Page was a HIGHLY sought after session guitarist, that played on quit a few albums of artists being mentioned here. (before fleetwood mac was even a band)

Love Hendrix....if there was one guy out there that was original it was him, and even HE did music from others.... I would say Yngwie Malmsteen would smoke Hendrix and SRV...then again Steve Vai...would probably also.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Magical Mystery tour came out and the world went.... :O

The the beachboys did Pet sounds.... :O

Those 2 albums changed music as we know it,multi tracking, run tape backwards,sampleing...didnt know they were doing that but they did!

Then several years later some group did an album about the Darkside and again the world went.... :O

This is not to say Zepplin isnt in the class of these guys because Zep IV certainly made most go.... :O

IMHO  Alice Bowie is the greatest!!!!!          :O

more then the fourth Album made em go :O

im old now a days and cant remember all the records they broke, but I know they are the most requested band ever.

they broke ALL the beatles records for attendance.

A lot of people who hate Zeppelin-pure case of envy, because they are so popular now and for the last 40 years...even though they haven't put out a Album in...what 1980......When they were together they were the most dissed band in America by the critics, they hated on Zepp bad....they were banned from many a city. ( this was mostly due to the riots that accompanied their concerts)

many many musicians state Zeppelin as their influences....Ive been around, I am not some regular dood, Ive tattooed probably over 50,000 people, maybe double that
I have met many a band member and so many of them list Zepp as the best....

every band today owes Led Zeppelin.....EVERYONE in the music business owes them..why?....you ask....before Zeppelin the Arena and record companies took most of the money made by the band playing there. it was Peter Grant, Zeppelin's manager that changed all that, he forced them to give more money to the bands and then when the record companies didn't wanna play ball he went and made his own record company.

I don't know, whatever, I do know that I personally absolutely love Zeppelin, they do not have one bad song, NOT one....I can listen to them every day and never get tired of hearing them.

I'm not disagreeing with you Ink,I think Zep is 1 of the greatest. My point was more on how music changed at least as far as the whole albums concept after Magical and petsound, before that it was singles and if you had a catalog of songs you could do a album.

Both these records used by those days standards the latest technology and were highly experimental. George Martin should be included here even though he wasnt in a "band",he certainly was 1 of the greatest recording engineers of all time.

I think his running of Ringo's cymbal backwards is still a foundation of most of todays music.

Sorry, my mistake. It was Black Dog not Whole Lotta Love. I should know the names of these overplayed songs by now. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make about Jimmy Page being a highly sought after session guitarist. Jimmy Page played with the Yardbirds, Peter Green played with the Bluesbreakers, and Clapton played in both. BFD.The simple fact is Oh Well was released two years before Black Dog. All this talk of "envy" is just ridiculous being that it was the "envy" of the blues musicians that inspired most of these guys to pick up an instrument in the first place. At least we can agree that Hendrix was awesome. Yes there are many technically better guitarists out there, but who wants to listen to those guys wank? Anyway, we all know who's really the most epic guitarist of all time:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBiJ-K0IpDA

saying black dog was ripped off from "Oh well"..which I just listened to....is quit a stretch :headscratch:

I am not a musician in any way shape or form but I love music, how is it ripped off explain it to me because I don't hear it.
