so the ray is harmless as long as it doesn't hit a vital spot?

I have firearms... I don't consider them "harmless" even tho they won't kill unless they fire and hit a vital spot or you don't get medical aid.

Yesm stingrays are considered harmless, because they only hurt that small area, and it goes away pretty fast, maybe a week. A gunshot hurts for much longer, and if left in can give you lead poisoning. And firearms are considered deadly because there is much more chance of them hitting something and goinbg through it, while the barb on a stingray won't go through a wall and hit you. And it won't go farther than what the tail of the ray can reach.

I don't consider anything that can kill you or injure you seriously relatively easily to be "harmless".

But... I take it that with all your pontificating and false info....

you still don't have a good suggestion for what gun is best for killing snakes?

Yes, Steve Irwin died. No, stingrays are harmless. The only reason the stingray killed him was because it happened to hit his heart. A 1/1000000000 chance. Steve Irwin was just unlucky that day. As for which gun is best for killing snakes, none. Guns should be used in self defence and for getting food, not for killing harmless defenceless animals just because you can.

Snakes arent "harmless"..even if they arent poisionous they can still do a thing called Biteing, and that hurts... so....

Never thought of it much (a gun for snakes), but I would think any shotgun with birdshot would be ideal? 16 guage? Doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. Anything suitable for hunting birds would do.

Up here dangers in the wild are from large animals like bears and cougars, we dont have any rattlers on the coast, so rifles do when your out in that kind of country. Shotguns are for ducks.

mcfarland... I really hope that you see the difference between a person and an animal.

If you have a nest of bad people around your home you can't kill em.. Unless the y do attack...if you have a nest of bad snakes you can and should.

I don't advocate killing manta rays... or any ocean creature.. that is their environment... I stay out of it. Land is mine... just as other animals kill animals in their territitory.. I kill snakes in mine. snakes are worthless and dangerous.

But you never did say... what gun do you like for killing em?

Here in the winter the geese are absolute hell on the winter wheat crops. Even though they arent in season, its very common to just walk out past the bins and kill as many as you can.

No one around here cares except for the animal rights sissies. Even then, most of the game wardens have family/relation that farm so they wont do nothing except compliment you on how many you shot

Hehe, I know that one with the geese as well.
Living on a flat land, one either has to burrow in at night and wait for their flight, preferably in a barley field.
I don't have the patience for it, so I snipe them. Hence me looking for a nice rifle, - better ranged than my .22 mag.
22-250 perhaps?
