The next scenario: Der Grosse Schlag!

Ach die Liebe! Doesn't he know? Here in Germany, EVERYWHERE is a bar! I'm making beer under my flying cap right now!

In the land of 100,000 micro breweries, EVERYWHERE is a bar!

And just to let you know which places not to bomb, we've put German flags on all the bars. Don't bomb anything with german flags, or else you destroy the beer!

Not to worry, the 38 drivers of the 474th are tasked with going in low and stealing all the alcohol.

A bar without booze is just another building.  Blow em off the map :)

Ich habe kartoffelsalat in meine lederhosen.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Lushce, I was wondering the same thing...

I seem to recall somebody on the forums with the english version, and I think it goes "Find your enemy and shoot them down... That is all that is important" or something. It doesn't translate literally.

Let's see... I'm quite rusty, but I think I might have translated it as:

"Finden Sie diene Feind, und shiessen ihn ab... Nur ist das wichtig"

But then, I might be typing gibberish to folks like Lusche :D

EDIT: :rofl @ Treize

Stampf's signature line:
"Finden Sie Ihren Feind und schießen Sie ihn unten - Nichts, das sonst ist, ist wichtig."

The English translation of that would be:
"Find your (personal) enemy and shoot him bottom - Nothing, that else is, is important"

His words put into real German should read:
"Finden Sie den Feind und schiessen Sie ihn ab, alles andere ist nicht wichtig."

And this is the original Manfred von Richthofen quote:
"Finde den Feind und schiesse ihn ab, alles andere ist Unsinn"

:aok

And Treize's German is almost perfect, but I really wonder how that stuff got there... ;)

I disagree...though this is hardly worth discussing.

The literal translation of my sig into English is:

"If you find your enemy, and if you shoot it down, nothing that was, is important."

Of course, my German is rusty, and my exposure to the launguage as a young person was a weeeee bit of a time ago so I ask forgiveness if some syntax is off.

Well, think of it this way. We're not picking on you, just discussing it.

Also, it's a free bump for the thread! :t

Not that it needs it, mind you, but it keeps the thread going.

So, no it doesn't really matter, but it's something to discuss (politely, mind you).

No it's not really worth discussing. ;)
And it's not meant disrespectful in any way if I do now have to say:

This literal translation you are giving is completely wrong, not only a bit off in syntax.
There is no reference to any "if" in your German version, it is no conditional sentece at all.

"Wenn Sie ihren Feind finden und abschiessen, dann ist alles, was einmal war, unwichtig" would be the German version of it.

The original Richhofen quote "Finde den Feind und schiesse ihn ab, alles andere ist unsinn" translates to "Find the enemy and shoot him down, everything else is nonsense"

So how high does the allied air force get to climb before engagement?  Besides the 152, the LW has nothing to match the allied fighters above 25k.

Not a whine, an honest question.

Moot,

Rules here:

http://ahevents.org/images/stories/scenarios_images/200710_derGrosseSchlag/rules.html

There is incentive for the Allies to attack the LW at low alts, as well as the high alt bombing offensive.  We (the LW) must concentrate on a three dimensional battle plan, and that is exactly what we shall implement in the event.  Tactics and strategy will outweigh the slight allied plane performance advantage, and after the slaughter of Frame 1, I'm sure you will see adjustments on the allied side in an effort to defeat our superior battleplan. :aok

The tools the axis have are adequate to secure victory. A hammer is a hammer. It only fails if you miss the nail.

We've been working on our nail-alignment-and-hitting-system and intend not to miss it ;)
