I would hope all planning on flying for the good guys will be doing likewise.  Our competition is stiff, and more than well aquainted with their rides for this scenario, as me and Gaidin experienced tonight while in an ack testing session with ROC, Roo, and Fencer.  Practice up guys.  They are team rides, and excell when used properly.

I have a dilemma, I rolled the K4 (which I'd like to be in) and got kilt.   Rolled the 109F4 out of the hanger and landed 2 sorties of 5 and 3 kills respectively.

By all means continue to practice in the F4, it is close enough. :aok

Great fights last night Gaidin, Stampf and Roscoroo.

I spent about 45 minutes flying around in the ack over a target  in B17s from 6k to 15k and took 3 hits and NO visable damage.   ROC flew over in a P-51D and died in 3 minutes despite flying nice evasives.

Doubling or even upping the ack to "50" did nothing to increase the hits of the Puffy ack.  However the airbases became defended by CIWS.

Allied propoganda!!!!

:D :t

It's good to get used to the F-4, but it's a LOT lighter and turns MUCH better than the K-4, and it has a completely different engine and weapons package.

It's good to learn moves in the F4, but don't rely on it to just jump in a K4 and expect to do as well. K4 won't turn as well, but will climb a LOT better, accelerate a LOT better, but the main thing is you need to practice with the 30mm gun.

Try the G14... It's a bit more nimble than the K4 but has the same gun option. Practicing in the G14 is much closer to the K4, and you'll learn the weapon ballistics and aiming.

The K4 itself is easy to "get into a killing position" -- it's an excellent plane -- but the problem is getting kills with the taters. Get in CLOSE. Very close. 200 or less. Also, don't do any crossing snapshots (where he's going one way you're another) because they will fly right through your taters without taking hits.

I can not answer any more thoroughly than Krusty did.  I will add one more thought about the K-4, which applies to all the 109 series fighters.  Saddle up! I mean right up close like the bandit is your girl.  When your right up in her back pockets...squeeze off a tater.

No fear sir, the Axis leadership has completley forgon MA time for the next few month's in order to organize, facilitate and take part in a massive scenario specific training program full of OpFor and ride specific sessions.  Once Registration begins (very soon) and you enter the Axis forums, you will see the scope of the commitment your Axis allies have made, in order to insure our pilots are as well equipped as possible to handle the well trained allied jocks.  Throw in a whole month of Dry runs before the first frame, and you will have ample time to reach a suffucient level of familiarity in your chosen ride.

As equally important will be flying along side your "new squadmates" and that is where the side specific training comes in.  Jump right in Karaya !  You will enjoy it.  I sure am. Getting to work so closely with these guys has already been the highlight of my AH career.  Like all things sir, what you invest will determine the payout in the end.  I had more fun and better dogfights in a couple of hours of ACK setting testing last night than I can usually find in a couple weeks of MA drudgery.

The team here who comes the closest to achieving real "team" status, will carry the day.

Fencer, I enjoyed it very much.

If you find you REALLY REALLY can't do anything with the 30mm, learn to fly the G14 with just the 20mm hub gun. Axis team has quite a few G14s, and you'd be able to choose the weapon you like.

I was unable to get any 30mm hits for a long time (not counting bombers). It was almost impossible.

Then one day, after not having used a nose 30mm against fighters or several years, I took one up.

I landed 8 kills. I could do no wrong. No matter what the enemy did I got a kill on him with "Teh Spudz"... Something just "clicked" in my head and I was able to.

Now I just need to get that clicking sound back :rofl

EDIT ^-- By that I mean I'm out of practice now

I read the rules. It's looking good.   :aok

I'm just curious as to what is the icon range going to be set at.

I'm not a great pilot, but I do pretty well in the K4 against buffs, so I plan on signing up for the Luftwaffe.

K4s might be sent after fighters (who knows at this point?)

Rules ought to list the icon setting as set to "near" (3k). There's an arena settings table down towards the end.
