They "backed it up" yesterday and went up a notch in my book. Like Dizzy Dean said: "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up."

Texans
-
da Bears. :D
Make that 2 for DA BEARS.
Cutler and the receiving core looked like the talented guys they are yesterday. They stunk it up in the opener.
There's a lot of talent on both sides of the ball for a change - and despite McCaskey.
Philly sucks big ones - always has, always will. November 11, Da Bears will demonstrate as much, just as they did to that other loser team from the PigPenn last night.
-
GO TITANS(not vince young) :lol
-
The Oilers....
When they left town I lost interest in football.
Does Houston have any plans in the works for a possible team in the future?

Oilers were popular when I was a kid living in LA just north of Lake Charles, too bad they moved, just the sound Houston Oilers, sounds better than Houston Texans......

Says a man from Rochester! Good sir I believe you are confused :lol
Fortunately when I moved to DC I didn't have much temptation to suddenly become a skins fan, (though I've always somewhat liked them) so to the Bills I remain true. :aok

What no one a cowboys fan? Go DALLAS!!!! Been watching them as far back as I could remember. even though they got a putz for a QB got to stick with them.

I mentioned this here at the beginning of last season.......but I sure wish folks would have established a Yahoo Pick 'em for the board here. perhaps they have......either way...it's too late for me to join....but if there isn't one already established......it would make for a great tradition here. not sure though.....NFL threads never get that much attention here.

I've rooted for the Jags and Panthers since they were added. I find myself rooting for the Texans, but the only reason is that I was childhood friends with their kickass kicker. His mom wouldnt let him play football when he was young so he stuck w/ soccer untill High School. :aok

The horse you never rode...

The color, well...
Actually, thanks for your service - I kid with that.
However, it's not about the 6 you've got. You're only as good as your last game. I too was a fan of the big machine in the 70's - the Steel Curtain: Mel Blount, Mean Joe, Jack Lambert, etc. But, I'm no fan of Rover Burger.

I'm with you on this one my friend. Been a Phins fan since I was born, as a matter of fact my dad and granddads were watching them lose to the Bills on MNF the day I was born. Dad is a Cowgirls fan, I picked up all of my teams from my grandparents lol.

Oh, he wants to talk about ancient history. The Bears have 8 Championships since 1940. While the last one may have been '85, anyone can have a bad couple of decades.
Speaking of bad decades, how do you explain the FACT that your vaunted Steelers are 1-12 in their last 13 road outings against the child molesters of the Midway?
Owned, my man: the reason you shouldn't be chucking stones.
-
Ah.. ahem.. cough
Vikings!! "Cubbies of the NFL"
Hey.. the title is 'Favorite' not 'Best'.
Until the dome goes away, they'll never get back to the superbowl to lose #5.

What? 24 years is nothing on the mighty timeline of Da Bears... It's a mere blip. I can see why you, a fan of those Johnny-come-lately Stealers might be all "oooooh, we'd better run down that hill and screw one of those cows" but a Bears fan is more patient than that. We're going to walk down there and pork 'em all.
I completely understand your frustration at always coming up short after the bus ride to Soldier Field, Rev. I mean, who wouldn't be a little bit put out after losing 12 of 13 in that hallowed confine? Probably GSH is mocking Rooney in NFL heaven.
Meanwhile, I forgot to ask... Did Rover Burger beat the rap on that sexual assault charge? He should just claim insanity by virtue of 'roid rage. I'm not implying anything by restating that the Captain of the Steelers offense is a mutant raging miscreant. I'm just curious. :D

I live in Ann Arbor. Give it up. The only thing you've got to look forward to, Red Dog, is:
1. repeated disappointments
2. a chance to break the record for consecutive losses - currently at 26

December 7th 1952, at Kezar stadium I watched my first NFL game ... for over 4 decades I have followed these same two teams through good times and bad.

Vikings!!

Agreed. the vikings have been sissified by the dome
For the first time in a very long time I think they have a legitimate shot this year.
normally I sayt about them. this year is going to depend on their weakest link (offence. Defence QB Etc)
This year their weakest link is Childress. So long as he leaves the play calling to someone else. ANYONE else (including the defensive coordinator of the opposing team) They have a shot.
As soon as he starts thinking he can call plays. They are doomed.
-
I live in Arizona, so...
AFC - Steelers fan since the late 70's.
NFC - Cardinals fan on and off since they came to Arizona.
The last Superbowl was a winner for me either way!

There's this thing called sarcasm. It's in this book called a dictionary.
You might want to look it up before you start slinging names.
So much for tongue-in-cheek. And you'll keep shining something, no doubt - given that very likely and with reading comprehension skills like that the only thing you have to shine comes to you second hand.
Otherwise, the whole argument is idiotic. Your guys went home losers Sunday and neither you nor I had much to do with it. This fact is compounded by the apparent reality that you don't even live in Pittsburgh - most likely meaning that you're a fair-weather fan anyway. At least I come by my admiration for the admittedly lackluster Bears honestly.
Besides the facts on the ground don't change: 1-12 at Soldier Field, 6'5" inebriated simian miscreant at the helm...
Keep yellin'. Your discomfort is palpable. There ain't gonna be a number 7 this year and that hurts when your self-esteem is the goo mopped up by that terrible yellow towel. :lol
Here's a suggestion: Why not just claim to be a fan, next year, of whoever wins in February? That way, you'll always be the die-hard fan of a true champion, thus demonstrating something (doubtless unintended).

Credentials accepted. You're kind of an NFL a-hole, which is not to say bad, albeit a legit one. I haven't given up on this year. We beat the chumps, er, champs, after all.
Franco Harris was a childhood idol - I watched the Immaculate Reception on TV, winning a bet against my Dad. However, Franco DID phone it in in his later years. JoPa and the boys from Pig Penn (one of whom was Matt Suhey) otoh? Not so good versus the Wolverines (double alma mater, along with a Pac10 school that hasn't won a Rose Bowl since '69).
Gloat on. The law of large numbers says: eventually all possible outcomes occur. Meaning: Yes, they've had a good run. Enjoy it because it won't last.

And somebody in Denver who does trades ought to be shot.
Kyle Orton and some draft picks for Cutler and Knox? Which retard thought that would be a good trade? Orton doesn't even belong in the NFL. He's Bob Avellini without the ability to get hit in the head repeatedly with no apparent loss of skill, Bobby Douglass without the ability to chuck it aimlessly downfield 70 yards...
-
not just shot....but tarred and feathered.....to boot.........
-
I think the problem with Orton was the same problem with all bears quaterbacks he had no protection so he got use to just chucking the ball same thing happened with Grossman i think that was his name... Maybe with Denver he can mature and have a shot at being atleast a decent quaterback... And Cutler.. Well i hope he is use to being on his back.
-

There was a guy here at Ford, back when I used to be in Research and Advanced, who was a Steelers Fan. He'd get loaded at some of the work parties and start talking about how great the Steelers were. He had the towel in his cube. Sadly, that was the year they won #5 - and it was a local event. It was also the last time they beat the Bears. It was far worse than listening to the Revrand.
Otherwise, he was a competent and decent person.
On the upside, he followed MaryAnn Wright out the door. He's probably livin' in da shtreet about now.

Anyone see Ray Lewis game winning tackle against the Chargers over the weekend? And you think hes old :rofl

That's what I said, I didn't even know they were pro football till like last week, when my friend Taylor told me. Hell, I don't even hear their games on the radio.
Oh, and I doubt it, but, Cowboys FTW.
If not, Missouri.

Wooaahh PJ .. be careful... you have inadvertently advised everyone you are in most likely your 6th decade of life.... lol.... Bobby Douglas didn't chuck it aimlessly downfield, he threw it 500 mph at every receiver .. even if the hapless bastage was 3 feet away from him.. that guy was a beast, and probably destroyed more receivers fingers than any QB in NFL history .. :)
And how many NFL teams can claim that their former place kicker is currently sitting on a State Supreme Court bench?

I was a mere child when Douglass played. I was in first grade or so. My Dad (RIP) and I used to watch Bears games, occasionally even making the drive (about an hour - we were far, far west) downtown. I saw Joe Willy late in his career there. We waited for him near the Jet's player's bus after the game. He came out - in a Ryder truck, and did NOT stop to give autographs. What the hell, he was washed up by then.
You're right about Douglass, of course. It is also true that that velocity, vectored properly, was convertible to some astounding distances. Too bad he had zero deep touch. I well remember him trying to connect with George Farmer. Rotsa Ruck.
By the time Avellini played, I was in high school. I used to call him the tortoise, for a variety of reasons. He had many attributes - an ability to duck and cover, an apparent imperviousness to lobotomizing blows to the head. Clearly, quickness (or competence, for that matter) was not one of those attributes.
As for Orton's odds in Denver: slim to none. The Bear's line isn't that bad. Hell, they made Rex Grossman look almost competent in '06 and there's even more fat meat up there now (Pace, Omiyale, and Shaffer). Orton is a brain-damaged retard, plain and simple, and will fail out no matter where he goes. He reminds me of someone once intelligent, now gone idiot, trying to work out the quadratic formula, drooling and trying to form his mouth as if to swallow some undigestible lump. Griese would've been a better choice last year, despite having a weaker arm.
Charles Freeman... very good...

Rover Burger took it in the shawts again. The Ben-gays are a little surprising. The Bears stuck it to Seattle after going down like Alanis Morrisette in a theater. They came back in the third.
I hate to say it but, right now, I think the Vi-queens are looking like Top Dawg in the NFC. However, given that they have a creaky old drooling stumblebum at the wheel, they'll probably manage to screw it up.
Maybe they can hire that fat slob Denny Green to come back.
Favorite sideline fat slob of all time: Wayne Fontes. He looked like a fat piece of crap on the sideline and probably smelled like one too. Further, while the Lame-ions played fairly well during his tenure, they were more inconsistent week-to-week than any other team I've followed. That's a sign of poor preparation. Ditka was the polar opposite. He always had a bunch of low-buck no-talents ready to play.
Ten bucks says sharting is a frequent problem for Fontes. Another ten bux says he turns around to admire what he's "left".

Specifically: you know the fan that drops their Dallas jersey, or skins jersey and buys their new "insert team here" jersey of the team that does well at the end of a season and swear they have always been a fan . :lol

Yes I know those types of people very well. Friend of mine is that way, now all the sudden he's saying the Steelers are going to the SB in 2010...but year before he was that 'die hard pats fan'.
I for one have always been a Bills fan, became a silent Saints fan as of 3 or 4 years ago (before they became 'uber') Cardinals have always had a place in my life as well because we went out there every year since we have family out there.

Yes, the Vikes are looking pretty good.
NOTICE TO ALL FAIR WEATHER FANS: Here's your chance to get on board, even if you're from Arkansas, the winning bandwagon. Come pick the strong horse in the race! People will marvel, when the Vikes win the Super Bowl, at your prescience. You can just smirk and tell 'em you've been a fan through thick and thin.
You might even get laid for a change as the secondhand glory reflects a flattering glow onto your slightly shrivelled unit.
Sorry, Kilo... I'm not really singling you out. For all I know you're from that neck of the woods.
Fact: right now, Minnesota's making everyone else look second class.

Yes, but Tark was still pretty cool - right up to and including his career-ending injury. You could tell, when it happened, that he'd sort of figured it was coming.
He was, after all, a rather small and thin "regular guy" playing on the same field as a pack of troglodytes. He survived for a long time on his wits and coolheadedness alone. He could really pick a defense apart.

You're right about that but I was referring to the year they had one loss ( against the worst team in the league ) and blew it in the playoffs. Don't remember what year it was.

Been a Viking fan since the late 60's
Two chokes that I can remember. On by a player. The other by a coach, and a player.
The one you were referring to was in 1998 (their sole regular season loss was to Tampa bay) the choke was against Atlanta.
Denny Green choked at the end of the first half opting to kneel it out. Gary Anderson missed a 38 yard field goal with two minutes left that would have put the game out of reach for the Falcons who managed to tie the game on the ensuing drive. It was the only missed field goal attempt Gary Anderson had all season (Was previously 35 for 35 in feild goal attempts)
the Vikes had a chance to score again But Denny green then choked again by opting to again kneel it out and send the game into overtime.
The ony other "choke" I remember was the 1987 Champoinship game against the Redskins. Darrin nelson dropping the pass from Wade Wilson in the endzone.
on the final play of the game.
I dont see this team choking. but I do see this teams weak link still as being the head coach Childress.
He can assemble talent no question. And while he's gotten better at it. He still doesnt enthrall me with some of his play calling.
-

that wasnt a choke. They were flat out out played.
A choke is when you seemingly have it all or are on the verge of having it all then at the last moment give it all away

It was a choke. You don't have to lose in the last second to choke. They needed the Heimlich in the first quarter. They seemingly did have it all until the end of the season. Then in the playoffs they had everyone believing again....until the goose egg. :D

Niners, and I have been a fan since before they won any superbowls. Back when Plunkett, and O.J. played for them. Since then they have won five. With Mike Singeltary as their head coach they are looking better than they have in a long while.
#2 would have to be the Colts. Peyton Manning is a master.

Yep, you should buys a whole block of tix for the big end o' season showdown. I'd rent a whole floor at the local five-star for all the parties you'll be having.
It's a sure thing, after all.
Saints... <snicker>
Their opponents have a combined 6-5 record so they're better than average - this I concede.

While you're rawkin' I hate to interrupt your dream. However, two words matched by two words: Kyle Orton, hydrocephalic retard...
Sorry but, with all due respect to the 5-0 record, I still can't think he's for real.
We'll see, though. Mile high is both a significant home field AND training advantage.
-
Orton will be just fine. With his efficient playing style and those receivers, that's a good combo IMHO. The defense is what I'm really jazzed about. Can't wait for Monday night against the Bolts!
-
I think the biggest game this weekend will be the Giants 5-0 vs Saints 4-0, there can only be one.

Looks like Dadsguns is going to be happy, Saints are taking it to the Giants @ halftime. The intramural games the Giants had with the Chiefs and Raiders didn't seem to get them ready for some real competition. We'll see how the second half plays out.

So Brady stopped the Titans single handed from scoring? ...just sayin ;)
-
I finally got to see them play and boy did they ever, Shockey was amazing and not intimidated at all by playing his old team. Giants "were" ranked #1 in defense until today only allowing 34 points in the first 5 games, Saints went over that in this game alone. Just completely brought it to them.
They all performed very well compared to the past, well since they were conceived... :lol and some amazing passes and catches were made that would have never been attempted much less successful in the past..... just a brand new team.
All I can say is "wow", they surely will be a team to watch for, they sure earned it today. :rock
Geaux Saints!
-
Yeah last year it was just Brees. Give Brees a running game and a defense and you've got yourself Superbowl material. They really proved themselves today that they can beat a great team.
-

TITAN's didn't even take the field in the 2nd quarter.........so I would say YES! :bolt:
-
My Titans haven't taken the field in three weeks. Local sports radio is going to be veeeeerry interesting this week.
-
Titans should be ashamed it looked like they just quit. :huh Brady was definitely clicking with the offense, but to lose by 59 pts and be shut out is embarrassing. :devil Hopefully the Pats use this game as a springboard for the rest of the season, as the Jets loss puts them into first place.
-
I really don't like Pats, just found it funny that they toejam the team out by that much.

I was at the game, they looked shattered
-
Pats did very good, but it seemed like there was no fight in the Titans. Hopefully Brady is going to continue this way. As much as I enjoyed watching them, I enjoyed seeing the Saints eviserate the Giants even more. It was a great matchup, but I think we saw just how good Brees and the Saints are today. Im sure we will see this matchup again, unless the Giants wheels fall off...which I hope Arizona holds the tire iron.

Baaah.
I was pleasantly surprised to find them competitive. The downside: three trips to the red zone resulted in two turnovers and a blown 4th and 1. Orlando Pace moved.
That offense looks a bit inexperienced to me. It'd be good to get one of the veteran middle lbs back, too.
Still, I think they play their way into this season.

Daaaaaa Bills.
Can't believe Lindel missed once. Never twice. :aok

Everyone's all gay over the Saints. I think that's just because an NY-based media thinks everything in the Rotten Apple is somehow so great. Truth is, of course, that NY is a stinking cesspool, full of lots of unsavory skanks - many infested with the crabs and bedbugs (both notorious NY/NJ problems.
In any event, the Aints handed the Gi-can'ts a loss. That's good - and so are the Saints. But the Giants are overrated and their division is full of trousertrout fly fishermen.
But Minne-haha's Vi-Queens are a quiet terror. I'd take them over the Saints any day.

I do agree the Giants have been over rated this year. Theyve played pretty crappy teams and once they face a good team they got what was comin to em.
-
59-0
Is that a typo?....... :lol :bolt:
-
I agree the media overhypes NY teams case in point see the NY Jets :rofl, the Vikings however are a curious team. They are relying on a 40 yr old QB who broke down last season and the head coach looks like a deer in headlights at times. A friend of mine who is a lifelong Vikes fan thinks this is just another setup for heartbreak for loyal fans. I think if Drew Brees stays healthy the Saints are the favorites this year in the NFC. The AFC looks up for grabs with Indy and Steelers the favorites. Should be a fun ride :rock
-
I agree with you oso831.
The one thing I like about this year so far is at least this year we will have a different flavor of teams at the top instead of the same ol' same ol' of the last few years, especially with these so called Dynasty teams being in the playoffs each year.
-
This is just the Mid season swoon for the Jets. They will lose to the Raiders this week because they can't win in Oakland but they will right the ship, make the playoffs and be eliminated in the Wild Card round.
Cheers,
gus

hehehe...giants wheels are fallin off.

Bears are DONE. It came early this year. The defense is too riddled with injuries to play at anything above about a High School level.
The offensive line sucks. The coordination sucks. Cincy made them look like bee-atches, bent them over good.

Drat!

Looks like the Saints are the only undefeated team in the NFC :O The Vikes tore the hearts out of their fans yet again :cry The Jints imploded against the Cards :x :rofl The Pats preseason schedule is now finished and have a week off to get ready for the iron of their season. :rock BTW the singer from England was smoking hot.

Gotta give the Steelers a :salute for protecting their buffalo on those 2 returns.
Good news for the Vikings is now that the pressure is off for maintaining a perfect season, they can go back to having fun.

What a great game. Blood Pressure was through the roof for the last 4 minutes. :x

Even know where like 0-6 go titans!

Gotta say right now it looks like the Steelers and Colts in an AFC championship game. :furious The only potential pitfall would be injuries to the Steelers defense, they play extremely physical plus the long season from last year doesn't allow for much recovery. Otherwise the Steelers could have a chance to get back to the Super Bowl :noid

The AFC is wide open. I love the Steelers, but I don't think we'll see a repeat or even make it to the AFC Title Game.
We'll see...

They had to make the 4th qtr interesting. Glad they won, but just put it in the endzone on offense. Anyone have a RB for sale that knows how to protect the ball?

2 rushing TD's.

I'd rather have Dan Fouts. Only QB who would not slide AND would actually block on a reverse or busted play. The league has made the QB position into 2-hand touch.

They are one of the teams that worry me against the Saints, so are the others in Bold:
Nov 02 vs. ATLANTA FALCONS (MON NIGHT GAME)
Nov 08 vs. CAROLINA PANTHERS
Nov 15 @ ST. LOUIS RAMS
Nov 22 @ TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Nov 30 vs. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (MON NIGHT GAME)
Dec 06 @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Dec 13 @ ATLANTA FALCONS
Dec 19 vs. DALLAS COWBOYS
Dec 27 vs. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Jan 03 @ CAROLINA PANTHERS
As of now, the Redskins are not much of a threat, but with their head coach being relieved of play calling they could have the potential of being an issue.

I see, Dads. So, would you call the secret to the Saints success an instance of scheduling to lowered expectations?
Okay, and that's a loaded question but I've often wondered whether it benefits a team to play a patsy schedule. They might forgo a few losses but are they getting the regular season experience they need to advance deep into the playoffs?
-
Ya the Pats are going into a real tough month. I hope for the best. If by chance the Pats and Saints ended up in the Superbowl it would be hard for me. I of course want the Pats to win, but I would like to see the Saints go undefeated and win the superbowl as well. The Pats soured Miami's champagne a lil a couple years ago. Id like to see the Saints put an end to it for good before Shula and co. croaks.

#1 Bills
#2 Saints.

Pats are rebuilding. The trading of Seymour, Vrabel, and the retirement of Bruschi pretty much sent me a message. That being said, Bill will try to win anyway, which is what makes this team unique. I see making the playoffs, but I think the secondary is just too young and inexperienced to take on the powerhouse offenses. Combine that with a poor pass rush and you've got trouble.
Btw, keep cheering on the Titans to lose. What seemed like a ho-hum trade during the last draft is looking real interesting. The Pats traded their 3rd round pick last year for the Titans 2nd rounder next year. What looked like a pick at the bottom of the second round is now looking like a pick at the top of the second round, w00t!

Do you think the Atl game will be close? If we perform like we did last week I'm sure it will be out of control...to me unless our D picks up the pace like they did late last week, it will be a point toss up between Ryan and Brees.
-
Have a nice day.
Okay, okay, I'm convinced... I amend my statement to,
"but only came out of the closet when they came out of the early season undefeated..."
You may now call me an a-hole.

Okay, and that's a loaded question but I've often wondered whether it benefits a team to play a patsy schedule. They might forgo a few losses but are they getting the regular season experience they need to advance deep into the playoffs?
The schedule can usually and not always determine a teams success, each team has its lows and highs each year. How that schedule will effect the win loss record can only be determined after the season has started. I know it looks like an easy schedule, but to be frank, previous years our division was much tighter as well as others, some of the teams we are playing this year did much better in previous years than we know today.
I don't think that playing patsy teams helps by no means, since your going to have to face a hard core team in the end that may have dominated earlier games, but so far the saints have done well with some of the "current" NFL leaders, if they were overrated that could be debated or not, but it is what it is.
Do you think the Atl game will be close? If we perform like we did last week I'm sure it will be out of control...to me unless our D picks up the pace like they did late last week, it will be a point toss up between Ryan and Brees.
Which leads me to answer YES, this should be a close game, NO and ATL have a history of some awesome games no matter who is leading the division that year it ends up being a battle and good football for the fans.
I unfortunately found out today that I will not be available to watch the game Mon night, I will be out at sea for the night, thank goodness for DVR.

How far back is considered closet fan?
My 01' Ford has plates 1SAINTS on it since I bought it, I have a Saints APEX jacket from 1994, still in excellent condition I might add, since it hangs in the closet most of the year, was raised in LA since I was 7 and will be 41 soon, The only thing in my closet is old shoes and guns. :D

Dads a closet fan??? :huh I just can't believe it. The man DID start this thread w/ a huge WHODAT. All I can say is  Dads and GEAUX SAINTS
:D :D :D
-
I think the Saints have a great chance to be the #1 or #2 seed in the NFC. :aok I doubt they will be able to go undefeated since they have to play ATL twice and a split is the most likely outcome. The Pats game could be interesting since the Pats play the Jets the week before while the Saints take on the JV Bucs so the schedule should benefit the Saints leading up to that game. The Cowboys are fraudulent until prove otherwise, Romo has not performed well in big games yet so until he does I don't consider them real contenders. I would love to see a Pats vs Saints Super Bowl, but I think it is doubtful they can secure a 1 or 2 seed in the AFC since already losing to the Broncos so the odds are pretty slim of them making it to the Super Bowl.

It's time to replace that Ford, Dads... Send me a personal email (any time - now or in future years) if you want a little Friends and Family discount on a new one. I'll even chew out your dealer if he, or the service bay, givesd you any problems.
Honestly, I've followed Ford my whole life and have worked here in Corporate for the last 15 years and I can say without hesitation that the product line is better than it has ever been. Derrick Kuzak talked to us way back in '05 about how we had to have "no-excuse" vehicles.

Thanks for the offer, I will keep that in mind in the future for sure and will take you up on that, but to be honest with you, at this juncture I dont want to replace something that looks and runs as good as the day I bought it. Thats one good looking Ford :aok

I saw Orton get his bellybutton hammered worse than Perez Hilton on Pink Leather Aces Initiation Night. That guy's a retard - I still say.
The Bears won over the hapless Browns. They need at least another week to try to get some on the D healthy. I note that the D appeared to play significantly better with Lovie calling the plays as opposed ot Marinelli.
My verdict: they'll be lucky if they can squeeze out another 5 wins.

Drew Brees took some heavy hits Monday Night, the one he fumbled on was a little scary :uhoh I think the Falcons stepped up their game and it showed, so Saints fans should feel good that the Saints took Atl best shot and were able to respond. I am really impressed with Bree's, the announcers at least identified and discussed the way he commands his team and is constantly thinking in the pocket.
When the center got hurt, he directly went to the sidelines to drill with the replacement, that's thinking ahead and displays good leadership in light of the circumstances.
I really watch him closely as he approaches the line during each play, he is constantly looking at the defense for subtle changes or indicators of what is to come and then instantly audibles any changes as he sees them instead of just "running the play" as some QB's will do. Making constant adjustments and executing them is a significant part of this game which he easily can do. I don't think he has been given the recognition as he so well deserves thus far, but he is slowly winning the critics over.
Where has this guy been all these years? Just an awesome player.
95K miles and still counting. I learned many years ago, take care of what you got and it will take care of you. :aok

Saints showed some character in this win after a rough start for Brees. Defense definitely kept them in the game early until the offense got going again then iced it with the big fumble recovery. :rock Pats played a solid game, still worried about the schedule and whether they can keep up with the Colts next Sunday. Manning looks like he's on fire should be a huge test for the D.

Manning didn;t look his best today, barely squeaked out a win. Hopefully Pats give it to em this week coming up...but if they Saints play like they are right now they won't beat the pats.

Another tough one for the Ravens :cry.......tomorrow night WE SHALL SEE how good the BRONCOS ARE...GO!!!!!STEELERS!!!!! :bolt:  :bolt:

Wife is from Pittsburgh and as you can imagine a die hard fan as well, my house is adorned with "the terrible towel" "steeler jackets" "steeler flags" etc. Even brain washed my girls to pick the steelers as the "best team"......
They had their 6 time champ saga and cudos for them, but its time for "a change" :D Here come dem Saints.... :rock

according to all the "experts" on CBS ESPN and FOX, N.E. Pats are our only real competition. I think da Saints need to keep eyes on Dallas as well. Either way it goes NFC South should be ours w/o a problem. :aok
-
They really need that Home Field advantage, its a madhouse in that dome and would be a huge role in the playoffs.
-
Having a bye in the first round is most important for playoff teams. The fewer games needed to play the better odds your team has to advance. Especially if opponent has to make a cross-country trip also gives coaches more time to prepare. Saints schedule looks favorable as they play the Pats at home after they play the Colts and Jets respectively. Also why tonight's game is so big for Broncos and Steelers, if Pitt wins they have inside track for 1 or 2 seed likewise if Broncos win.
-
IMHO, Dallas and NE are our two biggest threats. If we keep playing like we have been , chances arnt so high...giving up 14+ points before getting something going...

KYLE WHO?????????????????? hahahahaha better worrying about them 6 TIME CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this one isnt the shocker...... The Rams have nothing to lose and thats what makes them dangerous.....
-
Pittdburgh has a football team?
GO BEARS
BFD, I'm with you, but the prognosis is pretty poor. Once again, the defense has been hollowed out by injuries. Dvoracek and M. Brown are two prime examples - true, both play well when healthy, but neither has ever made it through a season. Nate Vasher was good before he got hurt, but he's too small and slow now. Urlacher, Afalava, Idonije, Ogunleye, Adams, Harris etc - all wracked up for periods long or short this season.
We're done, my friend. Thank God we've got the Queertown clowns this week - but even they will be tough.
The only chance Da Bears have is to squeak in with 4 more wins and to get some people on the D healthy. I reckon they need to beat the Forty-Whiners, The Cravens, the St. Loser Wham!-ouches, and the De-twat Lame-ions. Lose any of those and they need a make-up one win from either the FudgePackers, the ViQueens (2), or the Pee-Gulls.
That's one big load of queers they're up against. Nobody can afford to drop the soap.
-
VIKINGS!!!! All the way to the Super Bowl. ( crosses fingers ) :D

Gameday!
I'd like to see the Pats knock off the Colts, even though I hate the pats.

Saints and Bucs nest week, when will this end? 10-0? Cant be happening.
I hear more about the Colts than the Saints in the Media. I think thats good in a wierd way, no expectations, no pressure, no spotlight. Wouldnt that just be a shocker if it comes down to these two. :pray

Patriots are wicked pissah

Is it Colts you are hearing more about or the Patriots. Most discussions I heard were really about the Patriots with the Colts being a sideline.
-
Do they play Baseball in Chicago...........?
Do they play football in Pittsburgh? Or maybe a better question is, does Pittsburgh play football in Cincy?
Just think, but for that one slip-up against the lowly Bears, a share of foist place could be yours.

I tell ya after 4-0 or 5-0 all you heard of was the Saints, the media has switched now, which is good.
If the Saints keep playing like they have, you might see 9-1 against the Bucs. Very Sloppy IMHO, they really over looked the Lambs. But it's up to them , not the fans.

I don't think my heart can take another colts game.
They won even with 3 turnovers and several dropped catches. That missed field goal and goal line stand made all the difference.
-
Ravens coach was dumbfound not to kick a FG on that last 4th and 7. Why go for it? Kick the field goal and put up some D.

OMG THE LIONS WON! AGAIN!

Not every day you get to say that!

Big Game next week for the Saints and Pats. The Pats need the game more to stay in the hunt for the second seed. The Bengals and the Steelers losing were huge upsets and Rothlesberger's (sp) injury could open the door for the Pats to get a bye in the playoffs. :devil Should be an exciting game could be as exciting as the Colts vs Pats last week. :rock Hopefully the good guys win next week GO PATS. :bolt:

You know what they say, Out with the Old, In with the New....... :neener:

Still for the Pats. That Colt's game was just BS. I went to bed 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter and they were up somthing like 20 points. :headscratch:

Colts Win! Their first half defense was embarrassing. Then the second half they turned the game. BTW, 4 guys miss the tackle on the colts running back and he stroll into the end zone.
-
Yeah...colts really know how to get lucky...they have the past 4-5 games.
-
Colts have had some luck as have the Saints but you cant take comebacks away from teams. They earn it. However do it to many times and its bound to catch you. Its getting to that time of year the Colts drop a couple.

Big, Big game tonight, this game will validate the Saints as Hero's or Zero's.
In the big picture of things, I would much rather see them lose a game now than later when it counts...... but I don't think they will allow that to happen. GO SAINTS!! :bolt:

Brady and folks were way off. This is not typical of them.
-
They started out ok, but after that interception, and a couple non calls, and seeing the performance the defense was giving they gave up. Pretty sad display.
-
You definitely got a team Saints fan......I'm a believer! :salute
-
I am really glad they won this one, what a huge win and a huge way to prove that they're a real team. All year I've been hearing from friends (a few Pats fans) "Just wait till they play a real team like the Pats". Well, today I got ALL my glory and ragged on my friends into submission. :)
Though the win is great, the Redskins can be just like any other team, so we can't view them like we viewed the Rams.

Yeah I guess when you score 30 on them the starters all walk off the field with 4 minutes to go. Very championship like. 1 more reason to hate those premodonnas.

The announcers even noted that they gave up at 5:38 left to go...... but your right, they didn't even attempt a comeback and play it till the end as a championship team would do.
-
I think Brees and Payton really wanted to give it to them...Brees stayed in till the last play, I kinda wish they went for another couple TD's...woulda beat his 6TD game :)

Thats what makes winning fun!
Its exhausting watching your team go for an undefeated season. The year the Pats went undefeated up till the SB I can remember saying to myself I cant wait till I can just watch the game to enjoy it. Hopefully the Saints will go all the way. I want to see a commercial showing the Saints driving across the lawn of the Dolphins "house" jumping out and chuggin their champagne. :)

Hey hey hey! I think that just may be the Colts. It's still way too early but if the Saints meet the Colts in the SB, Brees won't have the luxury of sitting in the pocket.
-
Ya but Soze after seeing how the Pats played Indy vs how they played NO, there was not comparision. Brees is every bit as good as Manning but his supporting cast is superior. Maybe it was just unfamiliarity or they got wigged out thinking they had to trade touchdowns and gave up, who knows. But the Saints just seemed much tougher a team.

Best post game press conference ever is Jim Mora's Diddly Poo. I know the "Playoffs" one gets lots of play because of the beer commercial, but the Diddly poo commercial ranks #1 to me...

Oh sure, me too.
Would much rather see that than the Cardinals play them, I really think they are the sleeper team, the one that will slowly creep into the playoffs like they did last year.
They are a good team and you dont hear much about them and that is what scares me.
-
Yeah, they can easily run the score 40+. But so can we. That's more of a defensive game...our D is playing like crap while theres is so-so.

I don't know. I think the ain'ts can probably handle the Peegles just as easily as the FudgePackers or the Blowboys.
Anyway, I guess you losers have this coming. Gloat and enjoy. Get drunk and watch the string of victories. Beware the Vi-Queens, for they are queer and after yer butts. I will return to the land of dreaming of the Bears return to greatness, content only in the knowledge that the Chi-Town Clowns brought Pissburgh and the retarded simian miscreant Roverburger down with us.
BTW, I'm thinking you may see the Ben-gays in the Stupor Bowl.
-

No they play Cardinals or Vikings. And last nights Greenbay v Ravens was a crap fest. Shame on the officials. Do we really need 8 zebras on the field with yellow hankies. Just heard seconds most penalized game since 1951. Maybe in afew years they'll switch to flag football no pun intended.

It is entirely appropos that, at this time of redemption for the perennial losers from NOLA, the ghost of Jim Mora should reappear and piss on the entire effort.
Did I see it right? I think, yes, a cursory search reveals, that "shutdown safety" Darren Sharper, after going to the Vikes in '05, is a Saint.
Doubtless, there'll be some "drama queen angle" played up by the eager media about Sharper taking revenge on his hapless former teammates, should these two teams tilt in anger come the NFCC.
-
? AFAIK they play one of the four teams in the "wildcard" but those teams can change.
And IMO I was bypassing the packers and cowboys and saying Saints will face vikings or cardinals. :D
-
Fingers crossed the Jags can keep it together! :pray
-
I figure Dallas will end up 8 and 8 for the season, behind Philly (11 and 5) and the Giants (10 and 6), with Philly winning the division.
I hope I am wrong, but I do not think Dallas can win the last four games. The only chance they might have is if the Saints pull their first string to let them rest and not risk getting them hurt.
-
Dallas does play the Saints, I would think that one would be a loss for Dallas for sure. Anything can happen.
-
Unless the Saints pull their first string to prevent them from getting hurt before post season. Then Dallas might have a chance to win one of the last 4 games.
Anytime you have to rely on somthing like that for a win, you might as well close up shop and try to get it together for next season.
If by some strange miracle Dallas gets into the playoffs, they will lose to whoever they play.
-
Saints will probably keep 1st string in for Falcons this wknd and against Dallas next wknd. Vikings get home field advantage in the event of a conference tie w/ Saints (still not sure how THAT goes). So Sean Payton will probably keep Brees and the rest of 1st string playing until home field is decided.
<------------Die hard and dedicated fan :D
-
Don't think Payton has taken anyone out early like Bellicheat took Brady and company out. Even if they are up by 20 the Saints still keep their starters in.
-
Wooooooo Hooooooo Go Browns  Stomped Splatsburgh :O
:neener: :P
-
Pittsburgh looks like they are in self destruction mode, the "Pittsburgh Plunge" if you will........
I applaud the Browns, they played that game as if it was 70 degrees out and sunny, the energy they had was incredible even though the weather was frigid......
-
I do not think the Saints need to play thier first team in order to beat Dallas. Dallas will beat themselves very handily. All the Saints have to do is put people on the field wearing helmets and that should do it.
-
am I the only one who cant stand what has become of Football and Baseball?
it aint about the "game" it's about the money.

Damn Stealers, thats twice now this season they cost me quite a bit, who would have thought the Browns of all teams would win.

Colts won! Colts offense, was horrific for 2.5 quarters and brilliant 1.5 quarters. Colts defense was superb. Denver's defense was brilliant 2.5 quarters.
-

Dallas I think matches up quite well against the Saints And probably stands as the best chance to hand N.O. a defeat for the remainder of the regular season.
Lately the Saints are letting teams hang in the game who have no business being even close. Something which may end up comming back to bite them before all is said and done.
According to NFL.com
Dallas 11th scoring offense (8th rushing 7th passing)
N.O. 16th in points allowed ( 20th against the rush 22 against the pass)
N.O offense 1st in scoring (5th passing 3rd rushing)
Dallas 5th in points allowed (9th against he rush 20th against the pass)
If Dallas plays up to their ability. And N.O. continues their current trend. This could be a much closer game then most people think.
-
For the Saints to lose it wont matter, they have clinched the division and a first round bye, a loss would be a good thing for them mentally to keep their feet on the ground so to speak since its only happened once in NFL history that an undefeated team has won the superbowl. A loss under their belt will keep things honest, I just dont think they are that good to fill those shoes.
I would suspect they would play it safe at this point anyhow, injuries at this point will be critical, as you may know a Dallas player getting a bad stinger in tonight's game with the Chargers, this will certainly have an effect missing good players.
They lost tonight, they will need a win to hang on thats for sure. This will probably be the deciding game for them.
-
What was up with the Cowboys today, too many missed opportunities, they should have won that game, at least they got that touchdown at the end, I had the Cowboys teased at +3 so it was a push, so saved me quite a bit.
-
Yeah, Dallas should have won that one at home, they better come with their game face on next week at the dome, that alone is hard to beat.........

Its only a matter of time before exposed weaknesses come back to haunt you.

am I the only one who cant stand what has become of Football and Baseball?
it aint about the "game" it's about the money.
Would you like some cheese with that?
I don't understand this at all.
Is it about the players money? What would you have them do? Risk life and limb for less than the full value of what they can negotiate?
Is it about the sponsorship money? Recognize that any decrease in this will result in less coverage, merchandising, money to attract talent, etc - for it is really sponsorship money that drives the entire machine known as producing NFL games.
I just don't understand the objection. What do you want? Games for which no one pays or is paid? Events so poorly underwritten that output media is limited?
It sound like a bunch of mewling. If you like stuff done small, go hang around some piss-stinking gummint public school, where everything sucks and is devoid of wealth, talent, purpose, or excellence. If you want something that BLOWS YOU AWAY, accept that money's usually going to be a major part of it.
It's kind of like the Speed Merchant in Mad Max: Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?
I should add, just to credential myself a little, that while my day job is here at Ford Motor (Global Tools and Processes), I am also President of a 501(c)3 in Ann Arbor that produces the annual Ann Arbor City Tennis Tournament. We beg for sponsorship. The more we get in sponsorship, the more we expand our offering and our day-of-events services.

I have no sympathy for them, they get paid alot of money to play this game drug free, if they violate that and the team has to pay the price for it, so be it. Maybe these owners/coaches will fire these players in the future and stop taking the risks on them. Hold their feet to the fire.
-
I'm looking forward to the Colts/Broncos rematch in the playoffs (wishful thinking)... That was a heck of a game by both teams. Barring a few mistakes in play calling by Den, it could've been a really close one.
Go Broncos!

None of the players involved are accused of taking steroids.
I suggest you look into the entire nuts n bolts of this case before passing judgement
This about sums it up.
Minnesota and New Orleans fans have reason to cheer, but the recent blow struck against the NFL’s drug-testing program is nothing to celebrate.
In a move that greatly bolsters the Vikings and Saints defenses, four starting linemen — Minnesota’s Kevin and Pat Williams and New Orleans’ Charles Grant and Will Smith — are cleared to play this entire season. The quartet, along with ex-Saint and currently unsigned running back Deuce McAllister, had faced four-game suspensions following positive tests for a substance banned under the league’s steroid policy.
The decision was levied Tuesday by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after a Minnesota judge ruled that Pat and Kevin Williams could pursue having their tests disallowed through the state’s workplace laws. Such legal wrangling is expected to continue into 2010.
Grant, Smith and McAllister didn’t have that same option under Louisiana law. Goodell, though, tabled their suspensions because of “considerations of fairness, uniform application of our policies and competitive integrity.”
Unfortunately, “integrity” isn’t a word used much lately when it comes to the league’s drug-testing policy. In a statement, Goodell admitted legal wrangling with players and waning support from the NFL Players Association has created “needless uncertainty” for a program that needs all the help it can get.
During the Starcaps proceedings, the NFL’s contention that players are ultimately responsible for what substances they put in their bodies was repeatedly affirmed in court. Grant, Smith, McAllister, and both Pat and Kevin Williams tested positive last season for Bumetanide. The substance is found, but not listed, in an over-the-counter supplement called Starcaps. All five players claim to have taken Starcaps as a weight-loss aid. Bumetanide, though, is barred by the NFL because it also can serve as a masking agent for steroids.
Suspensions for banned supplement use are normally cut-and-dry. Even star players like Carolina’s Julius Peppers and San Diego’s Shawne Merriman weren’t immune when busted. But the Starcaps appeals process revealed some warts in the way the NFL does business.
The doctor who oversees the program didn’t specifically convey to players that Starcaps contained Bumetanide when the league received that information in 2006. Two federal court decisions upheld that Dr. John Lombardo didn’t violate any rules, but the situation has contributed to the union’s mistrust of the NFL’s program.
Believing a suspension under such circumstances was unjust, Pat and Kevin Williams hired independent attorneys to clear their names. The result: Discovery of a loophole so big that not even the vaunted 700-pound “Williams Wall” could plug it.

Go Broncos!
Denver's secondary defense was outstanding! Their quarterbacking was excellent. I'm not sure where they went wrong. Manning was strong out of the gate but really bogged down later, It was just awful for a while. Seemed the colts could run against Denver though. Next year, Denver will be tough!

Or to cover something else up sort of like "Golden Seal" in the past:
"Bumetanide=The drug is often used for weight loss, but also to mask other drugs or steroids by helping to dilute the contents of the user's urine (which is manifested through its actions on the Loop of Henle -- see loop diuretic), yielding a lower concentration of filtered substances which may then go undetected."
As it stands today, taking any prescription drug without a prescription from a doctor is illegal. I dont know if he has one but if it violates the rules for taking it that is up to the NFL.
"The substance is found, but not listed, in an over-the-counter supplement called Starcaps. All five players claim to have taken Starcaps as a weight-loss aid. Bumetanide, though, is barred by the NFL because it also can serve as a masking agent for steroids."
You can bet that these guys had known about the added benefit of taking this stuff and what it can be used for to cover other drugs, athletes that do this kind of stuff know all the In's and out's of not getting caught. And surely they have the added benefit to ask the team doctor if this could be tested or used to ensure compliance with the NFL.

Tell me about it. I really do not like the crap they put toward us, we are undefeated but all attention seems to go toward the colts, but if we DO lose a game everyone will laugh at us and say we suck...I've gotten it when we were in a close game with Atlanta. A friend of mine said "the Saints suck" in which I responded "and your team's record is?" Oh guess who he likes, the Bucs :)

I agree, they have the biggest hill to climb against nay sayers since not being in the spotlight for so long if ever, they just got to put up or shut up. It all boils down to winning the big game, 2nd place is just the first loser.......

You said it, they stunk it up against the Chargers, no reason they should have lost that game.

The unfortunate side of it all is, we have to win all of the next three games to get home field in the playoffs. I still don't understand how Minn. w/ the worse overall record gets it if we lose even 1 game. Some B.S. about them winning it in the event of a conference tie. :huh

This is harder than Chinese arithmetic,
DETERMINING HOME-FIELD PRIORITY
To determine home-field priority among division titlists, apply Wild-Card tie breakers.
To determine home-field priority for Wild-Card qualifiers, apply division tie breakers (if teams are from the same division) or Wild-Card tie breakers (if teams are from different divisions).
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.
If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Two Clubs
Head-to-head, if applicable.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
Coin toss.
TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs
Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.

Skuzzy, there is still some hope for the Cowboys, the Saints still have not made up their minds if they are going to bench the good players for this game and the Coach is leaving it up to the players to decide......

-
Like I said before. The only possible win I can see the Cowboys getting is if the Saints bench thier first team. Then again, I really think Dallas will find a way to lose it anyway. A second team Saints will probably play with much more heart than Dallas will.
The Cowboys seem to be doing their best to make sure the Giants actually make it to the playoffs. Of course, the Giants need to win a couple of games to do that. Two wins should cinch it for them.
Whoever makes it to the playoffs, from the NFC East, will probably lose the first post season game they play.

Homey don't do that... But yes, expect a sudden influx of people who've "always followed the saints. I was born and raised in <generic nearby city here or otherwise tenuous connection> after all."

Garrard missed two critical passes to two wide open receivers in the last 2 plays. The later was intercepted and Manning took the knee.

I really don't see the Saints benching any players, only if there up by a large margin come halftime, so if the Cowboys can keep it close I see every starter playing all 4. The Saints might not have any real need to win, but going after a perfect seasons will be a factor.
-
Yeah, but Orton still sucks.
Dunno why, but I think he's alot better than he's perceived. Remember, he played with an "open" dislocation in his right index finger for 4 games. That's like having your fingertip ripped halfway off and saying "No worries, I'll just wear a glove."
Tough dude there.

That is what I am thinking, hoping, and praying for. Less pressure on the Saints which is good, finish out the reg. season and you got a first week bye in the playoffs. See: 07 Pats. :)
-
Dallas I think matches up quite well against the Saints And probably stands as the best chance to hand N.O. a defeat for the remainder of the regular season.
This could be a much closer game then most people think.
ahem.
turns out it ended up being closer then it deserved to be
-
Yep, well we all know who watched what the Saints will be working on this week. Offensive line protecting Brees and Defense all around. Brees has great SA and if you give him two seconds he can get anywhere, but the O line was barely giving him that.
-
<----------------hangs head in shame for talking all dat smack. :cry
But looks forward to next two weeks.
13-1 is still best club record ever and we should finish 15-1
-
Not to take anything from Dallas on their win against the Saints, Dallas was one of the biggest threats but a win is a win.
From what I saw and what lead to the loss was Saints did not play all their key players on defense and offense and was absurdly reserved with the plays that were called in the first 2 quarters, they didn't come to really play until the 4th and by then it was too late.
I believe that if they had not wasted the first 30 min of the game and had played as hard as the 4th, we would not be having this conversation, they shut down the offense of Dallas in the middle of the third and the 4th, had they had some points from the first half to carry over this would have helped them.
In a way I am glad they lost, only the fitest survive in the playoffs and this will give them a chance to collect themselves and get healthy players back on the line since they do have the bye week clinched, Vikings are only a 1.5 game behind us for home field advantage now with this loss.
At least Dallas broke the December curse....... :D
-

To me it was all about the personnel matchups and the schemes. Sometimes its more about how teams play then their records. Thats why you will occasionally see a poor team defeat a great team. As I said. i thought Dallas matched up very well against NO. I think Arizona,San Fran And Min, And possibly Green Bay do as well.
(Beware GB. They are very quietly starting to play very good football.)
As I have been saying. NO has been exposed in recent weeks by teams that just couldnt finish the deal. Just as Arizona exposed the Vikes secondary with the absence of Winfeild.
I didnt see the Saints holding out any Key players. Nor did I see them doing much different on offence. The big 4th quarter jump was nothing more then NO moving to the hurry up which they had to do. And Dallas being slow to respond to it. Once they did. they started getting to Breeze again and they managed to shut the Saints down on the drive that mattered most.
Dallas played up to their ability and improved their pass defence.
NO is going to have problems against balanced teams. Who do a good job studying film.
In any event. I warned that this was comming.
-
I agree with all points here, their D kept the Saints off balance every play, and their offense kept our D off balance. But it goes to show you, the Saints CAN come back. Dallas gave up 14 in the 4th and it could have easily been 21 and an undecided loss for Dallas in OT. But they did step up, but we all know what Brees is capable of doing and there isn't any denying of that fact.
And please don't get me wrong I'm not trying to be a sore loser here, making up excuses and what not...just tellin the facts straight. But there were two penalties that should have been called that would have helped the Saints a lot. One of the Boy's players was holding on to a Saints' players shirt, pass interference...and also when Roy williams purposely ran into McKenzie then faked a stumble...was called on Saints for illegal blocking or something.

Indeed. Here's something I sent to my friend in a message:
Though I am not glad they lost I think it'll benefit us more than going undefeated would.
-Less pressure
-More focus on playoffs than perfect reg season
-Cowgirls exploited our weaknesses and since we lost, we will take them more seriously than just 'shaking them off' because we won. Hopefully during this week more attent...ion is turned to our defense and offensive line, the two that killed us the most. Brees can work his magic any time, but he needs a O line to give him those extra two seconds.
-
N.O. is for real. no question. They are without question one fine football team
Their biggest question mark is their defense. You can have an offense that racks up 1,000 points a game. But you cant always rely on the offense to win every game for you. Eventually your going to go up against a balanced team that can prevent points from being scored as well as score alot of points themselves.
Its like I used to complain about the Vikings back in the Denny Green days. You can score 1,000 points. But if the opposing team can score 1,001 on you it doesnt really matter. And it only gets worse if that team knows how to stop points being scored. And eventually you will run up against that sort of team
Dallas had more balance on both sides of the ball at or near Top 3rd in both points scored/allowed. (One can also look at current team trends as overall stats dont always tell the complete story)
Those are the types of teams that are going to be the most dangerous to N.O.
In any event. It is shaping up to be one hell of a playoff picture for the NFC.
alot of good teams still in the hunt
NO, Vikings and Green Bay probably the best in the NFC and maybe even in the league right now (Yes over the colts) Each has the potential to give any of the other fits. And I wouldnt lay money on any of them if/when they play each other.
But Dallas or Arizona could catch fire and make some real noise if they play up to their ability.
Philly is a decent team but not there yet.
Everyone else is possible but not very likely to go far.
AFC is much more boring
Colts and the Chargers. Bengals come in at a distant 3rd.
NE...while still dangerous. Aint what they used to be.
Everyone else is also rans.

Definitely. Their defense looked hot in the beginning of the year up till about Week 8 or 9...then they started slippin....and slippin....and slippin. They need to find where they used to be and get back there if they are going to need to play the Vikings.
You are completely correct...give brees 5 seconds and he'll work magic, but give the other offense 5 seconds and they'll do the same. I think getting down 14-0 early kind of hurt the saints' morale...even though they were down 24-3 vs the Phins at the half, it still hurts the morale regardless...something they didn't recover from until too late.
-
GB vs Steelers one helluva game! 3 seconds left and a TD pass, Big Ben gets over 500 yards passing.

Because had ended the season with a W/L tie record Vikes would own the tie breaker based on confrence wins.
Not that it matters. Vikes played like crap tonight.
Offense they have the same concerns as Saints against the outside pass rush. Defense they showed how much they are missing EJ Henderson.
Overall they just flat out played flat. Again. Poor tackling. Poor pass protection.
Cant even blame this one on Favre

They held up the Cardinals and actually TIED with them. TIED. The Detroit Loins! Alas, it got away, as usuall. But still, we were tied at one point!
This is what happens when they play Stanton, they have a chance! :x

I hope and pray that the Giants up their pass defense tonight, but let the Run through. In the second (semi finals) round of FF. I am up on the guy by 4 points and have Quinton Ganther to play for the Skins, as RB. Guy I am playing has Fred Davis and Santana Moss to play for the Skins, TE and WR.

Well the Giants have a decent pass defense, there rated 10th in the league, & there run defense is rated 9th, the Redskins pass & rush offense are just crap, there rated 16th & 23rd, and there total offense is rated 23rd.
The Giants are only giving the Skins 3pts, but I don't think it's even gonna be that close.
-
Quinton Ganther got 2 TD's and 50 yards last week (50 yds not much, but he's a rookie). Granted, they played Oakland, but Oakland beat Denver this week...If Giants shut em down completely, that's fine...but a 4 point lead isn't much to talk about and I'm really quite worried...
Don't know man, The Skins have been explosive almost beating my Saints (not like we played to ability), beating Oakland, etc...I know they wnio't have any break out points tonight but I don't think it'll be a blow out either. What I fear is the Skins getting the pass early...and hopefully NOT to Moss. But the other team needs to respect the pass in order to get the run going. Never know, 40 yards could ruin my season. But Moss could get the yards down field and I could get the 6 points on a goal line run. Too many variables!

Here is the current Playoff Picture, Saints cannot afford another loss thats for sure or they will lose Home Field advantage with a Viqueens win.

Well even thuogh it's Tampa Bay, lets hope Brees and crew will work out their kinks, since they can't 'shake it off' with a win, like they have the past couple weeks, since they didn't win.
-
Well looks like it just might be a blow out, like I said earlier I was very surprised that the Giants were only favored by 3pts.
-
Well hell if they keep Skins offense off the field it's mighty fine with me. But now it scares me as if they get down by more than they are now, they will pass more than run...meaning more shots for Moss and David, less runs for Ganther...
-
Ugh. Not what I'm needing...
-
The giants are just crushing the Skins, they've had 14 first downs, & the Skins have 0.
-
How did I know that would happen...47 yard bomb to who else than Moss...score jumps from 95-94 :furious

It was a mistake not to go for it on 4th and inches. Would have made all the difference. Looks like we might have a hard time next week at Carolina too....

Man looks like the Saints are just self imploding, I guess they just couldn't handle the pressure of it all.

They only need to correct a couple of things. Darn fine team. Wouldn't have hurt to have a little enthusiasm in the second half.

A couple things...a couple big thigns. Like their entire defense minus Vilma and Sharper.

Wow, anyone watching this Colts game, I can't believe they gave up a chance at a perfect season to rest a few guys for a quarter & 1/2, and ended there regular season winning streak. Colts fans have to be extremely upset with the coaching staff right now.

I agree with the move though. first of all it takes the teams mind off the perfect season and keeps them focused on the big picture. The Superbowl.
Secondly. Why put your starting players at added risk needlessly? As an example. After going all season nearly injury free. During the Min Arizona game. The Vikes ended up walking away with like 3-4 starters hurt. Showing how fast the injury bug can catch up with you.
the idea is to put yourself in the best possible position to win the Suberbowl. Not to have an undefeated regular season.
-
If I was a fan of a team who had the chance of a perfect season and they just dismissed it with little thought of how its fans feel about it I'd be pissed. If they had never won a superbowl, I could see doing that. Superbowls are won every year by someone. Perfect seasons arent. Im not even a Colts fan and Im pissed. To me it just shows a lack of emotion, that to me makes the game what it is. Now what if they get knocked out in the 1st round?

hey it's a "rebuilding" year. I am thrilled we knocked off one of the best teams in the NFL right now.

Exactly what I was thinking too, I'd be really pissed at the team if I was a Colts fan.
Also those players are all competitors, especially Manning, I'm sure their not happy about the coach making them sit out almost half the game. I could see it being fine with them if they had been winning the game by a large margin, but they were only up by 5 when the coach started benching starters. I thought for sure as soon as the Jets took the lead that you would see Manning back in the game, but no, I can only imagine how upset Manning was sitting on the sidelines watching his chance at history slipping away.
Like Filth said, they've won Superbowls, and someone wins every year, in football the playoffs & Superbowl are single elimination games, every team can win on any given Sunday, but to have a winning streak like they were having, and a chance at going undefeated, and then to just throw it away, it was a chance at something that doesn't happen very often.
One other thing, if they were worried about players getting hurt, and willing to take a loss to prevent it, why didn't they just have Manning and the other starters they took out not play at all today?
-
Man looks like the Saints are just self imploding,,,,
That about sums it all up......
I am 100% sure its not the end of the storm, the panthers will surely have their way with them if they dont pick it up by next week.
Anyway,,,,,,, Now where did I put that bag?..... :headscratch:

Go look at their forums. Not much nice said there.
They just quit! In the middle of the phreaking game. Then Manning left his helmet on as if he was going to come back in and he knew wouldn't. This is why I hate professional sports. I'd rather have watched a bunch of 6th graders giving it their all.
Oh btw, I got kicked off the Colts forums. First time getting kicked off any forum. :rofl :rofl

Well he might have left it on to hear what plays were being called, and what the QB was saying.
That game was unreal, like I said when I saw Manning come out I thought, ok they have the lead, if they fall behind he'll be back, but when they lost the lead, especially because they lost it due to the QB fumble into the end zone, and he stayed out I was just in disbelief. They really just turned on their fans, I guarantee just about every Colts fan, hell even if your just a football fan, wanted to see the Colts go for the undefeated season, and extend their regular season winning streak, I mean they were making football history.
Like I already said, if they had no plans on leaving their starters in the whole game, win or lose, they should have just left them out the entire game.
-
I feel for ya Soze. If the Pats had done that I think I would have given up on em. Atleast they lost in the final game. Playin shatty is better than plain not playin.

you jump off that bandwagon! :) Just 3 weeks ago everyone was saying how awesome they were and how good they played, when Dallas handed them their first loss only the real fans stuck with them.

:) stayed as long as I could but I still didn't pick them for the super bowl(I dont believe). Eagles will be hard to beat, and they have a Secondary that can stay with those recievers. Then you have the 2nd best pass rush in the league in the Vikings which is what dallas did to beat the saints. Eagles have a fast striking offense that can score at will, Vikings might come around but we'll see.

Dunno man, my black and gold faith is dwindling...I mean how do you blow a 17-0 lead...at home........to Tampa......kind of disappointing in my opinion. We better show the defense we had in week 1-8 next sunday vs the Panthers, else we might aswell give up our playoff spot.
Don't forget we killed the Bucs AT TAMPA 38-7 the last outing.
-
It seems when it comes to playing teams the Saints should have no trouble with, they blow it, they should have lost that game to the Skins, they only won it by pure luck, now they lose to Tampa, just odd how that can happen.

"You play to win the game!" Herm Edwards- former NY Jets Head Coach
I'm a Jet fan and I'm disappointed with the Colts management. They definitely let their fans down by not putting Manning and the rest of the starters back in. The Jets are exceeding my expectations though. If they win next week they take one of the wild card slots. They have to beat the Bengals which won't be easy unless the Bengals decide to rest some of their starters too
I hope the Jets don't play the Colts in the playoffs
Cheers,

Very well could have been, I know that I thought he'd be back in when I saw it was on.
I think they really F'ed up big with this one, I can just imagine that Colts fans feel stabbed in the back, I'm a Bears fan(not an easy thing to be this season) and if they had done this I'd be looking for the coaching staff served up on a platter, if they weren't gonna even care about the win then they should have started the game with 2nd strings guys.
You know whats going to be even worst, if the Jets play the Colts in the playoffs and knock them out.
-
Spikes I wouldnt give up on em. Ya gotta stick with yer team. It only takes a couple guys to have a bad night to make the difference. They were undefeated. They lost the game to the Cowboys and it probably took a little out of them. They are still the team that kicked everyones butt before the losses..they just have to convince themselves of that and get back at it.

Baby steps I guess they played 1 qtr of football vs Dallas, two vs Tampa. Maybe we'll get 3 out of them vs Carolina. Filth, we beat the Bucs 38-7 in the first outing..38-7. Then we blow a 17 point lead, it's not even about Hartley missing the field goal. Sure, that sucked, but the defense (we have a defense?) gave up 17 unanswered points. Changes need to be happening, and quick.

I'd have to say that the best teams in the NFC right now are not the ones with the best records. (Green Bay, Dallas)
And at least one of them isnt even in the playoff hunt (Carolina)

Not the best but if Philly wins next week they get a 1st round bye, but if they loose, they only get a wildcard and lose the division.

Thats what happens this late in the game, some that lead early sometimes dont make it to the end healthy enough.
-
The Saints really need to win this last game to show that it still has somethin left in them...they've pretty much tanked the past 4-5 weeks. Their offense was good...and there defense was slippin...now they'er defense has left the building...and the Offense is starting to do the same with the exception of Brees. Who by the way is the NFC starter in the Pro Bowl. :)
-
Having locked up home field advantage the Saints are most likely gonna be resting some of their key guys, I doubt you'll see many 1st string guys after halftime, maybe some guys not even that long.

I'm sure we'll see resting, but not as early as you'd think...especially if the game is close...not that it matters anymore now though.
-
I don't know, with the game meaning nothing I think they're not gonna risk any injuries to key players, I mean look at Indy, they were resting guys just half way into the 3rd and that game actually meant something, nothing about the playoff's, but meant something for history.

Yeah I hear you there...it's really a toss up...Sean Payton has a real different mind set, but I think now that everything's locked down and the Panthers aren't in the playoffs at all, we'll see Brunell and company in around half time. I'd have to say though, if Brees hasn't gotten touched in the first half, he might stay in longer, but if he'd getting pounded to the ground, he'll be pulled.
-
Sean Payton said in an interview (last week maybe) that it was up to the players if they wanted a rest. Just what I saw on ESPN.

Dads, DaCoon, your thoughts on the Saints D? I was fairly impressed this week...they gave up a lot of yards but only held them to field goals and a couple TD's. They did good pinning Carolina in their 20 yd line...if Brees was playing he would have loved starting at his own 40 or 50.
I think it's looking up now for their D, they got 3 weeks to practice practice practice.

Houston Texans

How about now?

Skins loose to chargers 2nd team :rofl
-
Cant you hide a bottle in your jacket going in?
Its possible as I saw some people there that managed it. But they patted everyone down going in. Wasnt a very thorough pat down. but they did pat you down.
We got there about 4:00 and hung out doing the tailgating thing. My son and whole bunch of his friends were also going so we hooked up before hand so we could all park in the same general area.
Fired up the BBQ then feasted on beer, Sausage sandwiches. Hamburgers, hot dogs, And a big ol bottle of Hennessy Cognac one of my sons buddies brought. Was a good time but flipping COLD. didnt venture far from the fires cept to take a leak and to go in for the game where it was even COLDER.
But I finally had an excuse to wear these super insulated Feild & stream boots my wife got me a couple Christmases ago. That feel like your walking in giant pillows and kinda look like something a lunar astronaut might wear. Glad I did. It was the one part on me that actually stayed warm. and I only wore one pair of socks.
How cold was it?
I was wearing the boots described above.
1 pair of long johns bottoms and tops.
1 pair of heavy flannel sweat pants 1 pair of jeans.
Long john thermal top, Tshirt, Sweat shirt. Hooded Sweat jacket, heavy winter jacket.
One pair of very thick wool gloves I picked up at Home Depot a few years ago. Best gloves I've ever owned. Too bad. Because, as usual. whenever I find something at Home Depot I like. They stop selling it.
Anyway. all of that and I was still getting cold. Wasnt too bad when I was moving around. But sitting there during the game.. it got COLD.
Was worse for my son and his friends as they had upper level seats.
Fortunately the Jets blew the Bengals out and we left after the start of the third quarter.
As usual there were a few nuts by us about 20 feet away wearing no shirts. 3 to be exact. All hooting and hollering whooping it up.
Couldnt help but keep my eye on them. Watching them gradually get colder. Eventually all three submitted to wearing gloves. which made them look even more idiotic.
they were good for about the first quarter which went by pretty quickly. Then you could see the cold set in on two of them. One shivering more and more. Halftime rolled around and that was the last I saw of those two. They didnt come back. The third one. Well, he may still be there for all I know. Last I saw him was after my buddy said he was ready to leave after the start of the 3rd quarter. blowing into his gloved hands. still shirtless. His skin a bright pink from the cold.
He's got a bigger set hang'n then I do. Or he's just that stupid..maybe both. LOL.
As for the Beer. I didnt even want any. Frikken hot chocolate was $4.50 for a small cup. I saw Beer (which wasnt for sale) priced at $8.50.
screw dat.
-
Well, I was wrong about the Cowboys. Seems they might have some heart afterall.
-
Sad state of affairs. I'm starting to think the outcomes are rigged.
Gotta sell those PSLs for the new stadium
The Bengals game this week should be interesting. I hope the Bengals weren't hiding anything. If the Jets win they will have to play the Colts to get to the title game so we will see if they deserve it.
Cheers,
gus

Look at the teams Phily has beaten.
Find me one thats in the playoffs
And they have lost to each playoff bound team they have played against this year.
Dallas twice 20-16 and 24-0
N.O. 48-22
S.D 31-23

I still say in the NFC Green Bay is the team to look out for and to be wary of. I'd rather not play them a 3rd time.

Well, I was wrong about the Cowboys. Seems they might have some heart afterall.
Don't be too surprised if Philly actually plays this weekend. Loser gets discoed from da playoffs. Not an Eagles fan per se, just being a realist.
But for all you Dallas fans, I hope they do advance. I would rather face Cowboys again than have to play Philly w/ McNabb QB'n. :D
-
Man what happen to the Broncos, they looked like they were a sure thing to make the playoffs this year, they started off 6-0, then lost all the remaining game accept 2, I have to say thought as a Bears fan I'm glad to see this, I didn't want us to get Cutler, & they get Orton, then they make the playoffs.

Coon, check out my post on top of pg 40. :P
Personally I think we match better with Philly O/D wise...but if our o-line looks better Brees might not keep gettin whacked.
-
Dads, DaCoon, your thoughts on the Saints D? I was fairly impressed this week...they gave up a lot of yards but only held them to field goals and a couple TD's. They did good pinning Carolina in their 20 yd line...if Brees was playing he would have loved starting at his own 40 or 50.
I think it's looking up now for their D, they got 3 weeks to practice practice practice.
N.O. is a damn fine team but their D is their Achilles heel
While their offense is in the top 10 in all categories
20th in points allowed
25th yards allowed
26th against the pass
21st against the rush
Now with the kind of high scoring offence they have. It wouldnt be so surprising to see their ranking falling against the pass as teams are forced to pass more to try and keep pace or play catch up.
But to also be 21st against the rush, and more importantly 20th in points allowed?
This tells me that N.O. will struggle against more balanced teams (offense /defense) And why I thought Dallas matched up well against them a few weeks ago.
N.O. will almost always be in the game because of their offense. But against a Well balanced team. They HAVE to play better defense to keep their offense from becoming one dimensional themselves.
Its really kinda strange because N.O. has some pretty good players on defense. Which tells me that if things dont work out this year. You can probobly expect a defensive coaching change on the defensive side of the ball during the off season.
Im not entirely sure that even if they do win it all that N.O. shouldnt go for a defensive coaching change.
They have the players. And you can see the players put in the effort. Then to me it seems its a scheme or planning problem on the coaching end..
Dont feel bad though. I see the Vikes having a chance only so long as Childress doesnt call any plays. Unfortunately. once the playoffs start Im not sure he is going to be willing to put his ego aside for his own good for that to happen.
-
Well pretty much our whole starting D is healthy and back in the game. Jabari Greer was in against Carolina yesterday. Shockey was also dressed out on the sideline. I think we should have our whole starting roster back by the time we play our first playoff game. ( :pray :pray)

I agree here...but look at the defense from week 1-8...7 def. TD's, plenty of picks, we were lookin great...but then we just slumped and I mean slumped...can't blame it on Morale...we were frickin undefeated! But what was it? Yeah we were hurt with injuries bad but that wasn't the cause either...we let up 33 points the game vs Redskins, and that started it all...downhill from there.
You have great players such as Vilma, Sharper, Harper, Roby, Greer (finally back) who are play makers. I think when Greer was out we started a small decline then dropped off. He was our main blitzer and since then we hadn't blitzed much at all...heck we pretty much gave time for QB's to read a book in the pocket.
-

on the other hand you still also gave up
DET 27
PHI 22
NYG 27 (though at the time the Giants had a decent defense)
MIA 34
ATL 27
CAR 20
Personally I think as I mentioned at the time that the Redskins spotted something. And everyone else has been trying to exploit it.
I think N.O. is capable of beating any team.Actually I think they match up favorably against the colts even. But I also beleive the Colts are over rated based on who they've played.
But I also think N.O. is going to struggle against well balanced teams. Particularly the higher ranked ones.
-
But what are they trying to exploit? Gregg Williams needs an answer to his problems...they hurt in a lot of places, mainly run...I think we faired well this past week...held them to 2 TD's and field goals...and you know damn well if Brees was in they could have out scored them, but Brunell blows. Not I'm not saying point toss ups are the answer to a play off game because they aren't, but if the Saints are going to win any play off game they need to shape up their D, BAD. Our offense can score 40 points easy, but that won't help us if the other offense scores 41!
-

This is the key for NO, injuries have plagued them in the last few games. They have to have everyone healthy that got them where they are, or they are finished.
-
Dred, Dallas has had the talent for years, but they manage to beat themselves at every turn when they need to win. There is a reason they have not won a playoff game since 1996. Talent is great, but if the players do not play with any heart, they will lose.
It would not surprise me if they get soundly beaten by the Eagles in this next game. It would surprise me if they play with any emotional intensity.
If the Eagles can stop the Cowboys first two drives and the Eagles score before Dallas does, the Eagles will win. It would be nice to be wrong on this one. From a talent point of view the Cowboys should not lose, but that has been the case for oh so many games they have lost.
-
Yeah like that game against the Chargers, the Cowboys totally should of won that game, but they just ended up beating themselves with so many missed opportunities.
-
Don't be too surprised if Philly actually plays this weekend. Loser gets discoed from da playoffs. Not an Eagles fan per se, just being a realist.

Eagles will fall this Saturday. I still don't see anyone besting the Colts though.
-
Eagles will fall this Saturday. I still don't see anyone besting the Colts though.
Yeah I think the Colts are definitely the best call to win the Superbowl this year. I have a friend I grew up with thats on the starting offensive line, #71 Ryan Diem, so I'm a fan of them, but still more of a Bears fan, it was cool when they got to play each other in the Superbowl back in 06, he got to play against his home town team, and won.
-
GO PACK GO!!! The Green and Gold are going to bring the Lombardi trophy home this season......where it belongs :aok
-
Anyone seen previews for that show coming on TruTV after the Superbowl called Full Contact, it's about all the behind the scenes stuff for football games, looks interesting.
I was watching TruTV this morning and they had a case on about a Jaguars player, Richard Collier that was shot 6 times and left paralyzed, I guess it happened last year but I don't remember hearing about it, it's a really sad thing to happen to a guy who was just getting started in hie NFL career.

Haven't heard about that one Trax...but will watch for it. It sounds purty interestin tho

It was about 2-3 years ago. Around the same time as sean taylor iirc

Right. Orton's a retard, as I noted. It was a good move to dump him. Cutler showed what he could do in the last two games. It's a pity that offense wasn't in sync when it counted. Injuries riddled the defense yet it seemed to also improve late, surprisingly. I'm hoping for continuity next year. If we get Dvoracek, Urlacher, Tillman, Knox, Afalava, Ogunleye, etc, all back and healthy, I like their odds.
In a lot of ways, it was an uncharacteristic year. Usually, the Bears take a bunch of no-talents and get decent performance out of them. This year, they had lots orf raw talent and performed completely inconsistently.
The receiving corps was way too green and the play-calling was suboptimal for Cutler. The D was hampered by a devastated secondary. The team is young, though.
Predictions: GB beats AZ in AZ. Dallas beats Philly AGAIN (they suck, basically).
AFC? Who gives two sh*ts? Bengals and Pats
NFC conf champ? It depends - but I'd say Vikes, since they'll be in a dome. They can't play outside of one but the should either be in the Hubie or Nola's squalor Dome either way. I hope they flushed that thing well since Katrina. Actually, yes, I guess they did. Too bad the plumbing went straight to Houston.
This should set Minnehaha up nicely for Super Bowl Loss #5.
I'm thinking Bolts or the Dolts in the AFC - probably the Dolts.
-
Shanahan signs with the REDSKINS! Good Luck, they need all the help they can get!
-
I nreally hopre and pray the first week bye will help the Saints regain their injuries and hopefully play good against their opponent.
-
I gotta figure Green Bay to be the dark horse and the team most likely to pull off an upset win.
-
I gotta figure Green Bay to be the dark horse and the team most likely to pull off an upset win.
I agree, but no matter which way it cuts, GB will never get to play the Vikes at Lambeau and the Vikes swept 'em this year.
Still, they're a dangerous team.
-
I gotta figure Green Bay to be the dark horse and the team most likely to pull off an upset win.
Skuzzy knows his stuff, Green Bay is going all the way. As far as Minnesota is concerned, they say beating a team twice a year is tough, beating them 3 times is extreme. As a lifelong GB fan, i gotta admit, i still got love for #4, but if he has to play the Pack again, he's going down.
-

Sanchez is too inexperienced to lead a dark horse team.
-
The Jets looked really good and the Bengals need a new kicker
Gotta beat the Colts!
Cheers,
gus
-
I wonder if Shane could kick himself off the team. :)
-
Ravens have a chance. Cardinals have none, come Sunday. Would be cool to see PACKERS v VIKINGS and the SAINTS v COWBOYS.
-
Looks like it'll be Boys vs Vikings.
-
HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!!
-
Look at the teams Phily has beaten.
Find me one thats in the playoffs
And they have lost to each playoff bound team they have played against this year.
Dallas twice 20-16 and 24-0
N.O. 48-22
S.D 31-23
I'd have to triple check in case I missed one.
But thats the worst record against playoff bound teams of any team in the playoffs.

Ahem. Told ya so. ;)
Philly was over rated. Anyone of consequence, they lost to.
Gonna be a tough game next week. Dallas is playing as well as anyone right now. Depends on which Viking lines show up to play on both sides of the ball.
With EJ Henderson out till next year
I suspect the Boys will attack the Vikes middle linebacker. And may test Winfeild who seems to still be having some problems with his foot. If Winfeild shows hes able to play full speed. I dont think you will be seeing many of those screens to his side of the feild as we saw tonight.
tough tough game.

how bout them little popsicle cats...

whatever happens go greenbay

:furious
I dont want to see them play my boiz! They beat them pretty good already,,,,, :devil

They won't, thank god. We will play either GB or AZ since both are lower seeds.

Speaking way too soon I need to shut up

Vikes vs Boys, Colts vs Ravens, Jets vs SD, Saints vs ?
-
Vikes are going down next weekend, Anthony Spencer, D-Ware, and Ratliff are gonna put a beating on Farve. He's gonna feel like an :old: after that game.
-
Starting to look like it might be Cards v Saints. But still first quarter....maybe I'll go watch the rest of the game.
-
Definitely lookin' like Cards Saints.

Heheh Rackers had the kickoff at the 45 and plowed it thru the uprights on the other side of field for the hell of it.

In case you havent checked.
Favre already is an old man. But as I've learned. You can never count that old man out of anything till the clock reaches 00:00
Its all going to depend on the lines and who protects/penetrates the best.
-
what go cards you choke again.
-
GB still hasn't show they can consistently stop Az though yet.
Personally to stop Az I think you need to use an extra defensive back, show blitz and drop back into coverage more often then you actually do blitz
-
Arizona needs a score here to keep momentum.
-
TD Breaston, very intense game!
-
Damn, this is what makes the playoffs great, games like this.
-
They are who we thought they were!
GO RAVENS!
I heard alot of Tom Brady man crushes go cold today! :cry and to the Pre game commentators, FAIL!
-
Woot, he shank it :O. GB ball.
-
Damn, if Rodgers wouldn't have tipped it with his foot I doubt he would have caught it.
-
Heluva exciting end. C da Cards Sat. in da Dome. ( :pray)

Wow. All I gotta say. 13 TD's in the game.

TV or computer? LOL
While I have the capability. i dont do wireless for my computer. And Im old enough to remember when over the air reception was all you had. And even that wasnt true wireless as you often had to run the wire to all sorts of things including your radiator to get good reception. And sometimes this changed on a channel by channel basis. LMAO
One of the first big arguments my wife and I had after we were married was what we were going to watch on TV. Soon thereafter we got a second set.
Back then I was running a commodore 64 and flight sims were no more then wire frame stick figures.
Had a TV near my computer ever since. ;)
Back on topic.
Yea, Bad missed facemask call.
NO Vs Az One offensive Juggernaut against the other. Usually results in a defensive struggle.
Either that. or the score is going to even more closely resemble that of a basketball game then this one did
-
I cannot believe the Cards did not get nailed with a facemask on that last play.
I agree. I'm not a Green Bay Fan, but that was blatant.
-
The ref was not in position to see that single finger on the facemask. He was watching the recovery of the fumble. If they did see it, perhaps it was a make up call for the "no-call" of pass interference on Fitzgerald earlier in the game. :devil
Just damn glad the Stealers are not in the play-offs. :rock Perhaps the refs are asking for a raise? :x
-
Nothing says "sour grapes" then excusing piss poor Game Planning, for "no-calls". Grow up already folks. GB did not plan accordingly. If they did, they wouldn't have had those turnovers.
-

Again, the Packers played below their "rankings", had they made better decisions, they MIGHT have won and "countered" the "no-calls". But, they didn't.
-
I enjoy watching Green Bay, however, I must condone that some things (even the obvious) can easily be missed. A great example is that of your average diver. Do you think they constantly monitor what's happening behind them, what's happening beside them, what's happening in front of them, all while ensuring the needle stays at or below the speed limit? To top it off, how many people do that while checking both ways when passing through intersections and constantly making plans in case someone around them makes a huge mistake? Even if you do perform such actions, eventually you won't check an intersection for traffic, make a plan of action, or will inadvertently drive a few mph over the limit because you forgot to glance at the speedometer.
These things happen, one can only hope the referees learn from their previous mistakes.
-

Agreed.

Shaving heads and throwing stones is all well and good - ESPECIALLY when it's at Pittsburgh fans.
Some Klown here at work has a terrible towel and a "Sixburgh" sign on his cube. I called HR and told them "some buttklown is creating an offensive work environment". Later, after the official inquiry, I found out he was a pretty nice guy, with a dependent wife and three kids. Thus, I was kind of saddened when they threw his bellybutton out in the snow, all quiva'lipped and mumblin' 'bout injustice this and starvation that.
On the upside, one of his daughters is kind of hot and is 17 so I figure she can support the family until he finds a new job.
-
You must have been real proud. Even to think his 17 year old daughter could support him, maybe you should call him and tell him that.
-
My comment about the missed call was just that, a comment. I was genuinely surprised it was missed.
Overall, I thought it was a sloppy game. I have no interests in these two teams and could care less about the outcome.
-
I don't believe you'll see any of these teams that played this past week-end, after the games conclude next week-end.
I think the Colts, Vikings, Saints and Chargers will all get it done.
-
I'm not sure about that, the Cards have beat the Vikings already once this year, they can do it again.
-

I think Baltimore will do it the hard way.

Except the Cards have to beat the Saints first and the Cowboys would have to lose to the Vikings for that matchup to occur again.

Agreed, so many fumbles, both recovered by the same team or opposing team, from EACH team. Sloppy defense....by arizona in the second half, after coming out strong in the first qtr. This is where I think the Saints have a slight adv, and maybe the only adv. Each team has a great passing offense, a so so running game. But both defenses are playing piss poor. But the Saints have had 2 weeks to prepare some new plays and work out kinks, but only time will tell.
-
That week off might also get a confident team lazy... I expect a close game for the saints v cards
-

Close game for sure, they are always the best. Sean Payton gave the players that were healthy a few days off, but the ones with injuries had to stay at the facility and work on their training back to healthy.
This week they were/are back to normal practice.
-
Except the Cards have to beat the Saints first and the Cowboys would have to lose to the Vikings for that matchup to occur again.
I just meant that they've beat good teams, and they can do it again, personally I'm not a big fan of anyone left with the exception of the Colts.

Missed calls happen, if you really want I'll bring up last year's superbowl again.

I've heard rumors that next year they might be going to College overtime rules, if they do I think it's a good idea, a lot of OT wins are just decided by a coin flip.

That would work for me also. Like you said, a coin flip can decide the outcome in 2 min or less. Good return on the kickoff, 3 plays later field goal position, done.

My pessimism remains strong. A sad fact. In big games that come down to the wire, the Pack have come up short a fair amount of times in the last 15 years.

Do you work for ESPN?
Hey I like the Cards. Had Fitzgerald on my fantasy football team. Also enjoy watching the old gunslinger QBs do well. Weren't the Cards up by 20pts and still almost lose? :D Good game, I think both teams were resting their defense for this weeks game! :D Im an AFC guy myself.
(cough) GO RAVENS!
-
I have not payed any attention to the Cards this whole year, mostly since we never played them.
Saints better take it seriously at this point, the teams that are here now didn't get there because they laid down.

15 so far on Saints injured reserve, Cards coming in relatively healthy with 6 on injured reserve.
Saints Key weapons that are healthy:

Going to be a great game. Key weapons? More than that! First, Brees. Colston, Meachem, Henderson (not popular, but fast), Sharper, Vilma, Greer, Thomas, Bush, Bell (like our FB), pretty much thre whole team!
I personally think we match VERY well in every category...just hope our defense comes out in force like we used to play back in Wk 1-8. They say our secondary isn't great......I say differently! *AHEM* 5 interceptions for TD's. Many more interceptions alone.
I'm kind of worried that if our defense is off on Saturday, they might score every drive and we might struggle...
-
Cards better bring thier defense rodgers had them running all over the place, warner and offense though sure played a great game

Let me just take this opportunity to say something really important.
JEREMY SHOCKEY SUCKS BLUE WHALE.
OTOH, the Saints were really smart to get Sharper. Funny, though, I do NOT see them coming out of this game alive.
-
Shockey still has it in him, whatever's left. Brees loves going to him on slants down centerfield.

He never had anything in him. He wasn't even good when he played for NYG.

:huh :huh :huh????? you must not have been watching the same Jeremy Shockey I've been seeing the past few years....

500+ rec. yards and 3 TD's this year...not too shabby considering you have a team who's scored with like 17 different guys this year.

+1 for you, except the city messes it up a bit.

My buddy at work told me many weeks ago the first thing he would complain about is his toe......... :lol Boy was he right....
-
You think with his size Shockey would make a good Blocking TE. I like him but, theres alot more talent around the league at that position.
-
I heard yesterday that the Saints have re-signed Deuce McAllister . Hopefully he can stay healthy enough to do us some good. Guess we'll find out in a little less than 9 hrs.

I think they did it as a token gesture to be honorary captain. I thought I read that while he is signed. He will be inactive.
Zilla, My absurd statment was meant as an absurd responce to your rediculous statement.
To the Shockey doubters
You may eat your words before its all over. Shockey is a damn good tight end.
Honestly. Thats where I see this game going. Alot of quick passes by both teams to the tight ends or in the middle of the feild. With the occasional shot deep down feild as both teams are forced to pass to open up their run game (as opposed to the other way around) In the end its going to come down to which offensive and defensive lines show up for each team. Its a fairly evenly matched game.
-
Parcells is back in Dallas?
We don't need Parcells to have a blue whale.

Saints player made a legal play.

A QB that has a glass brain (like a boxer with a glass jaw) tries to be a defensive tackler, He is no longer a QB. He is a statistic.
Supposedly its a chest injury, not his concussion prone brain.
This game is soooo over. Glad to see everyone is healthy and ready for next weeks battle.... (money is on Dallas) just a little unfinished business..... ;)

Dallas fans have no reason to hang their heads. That team made a hell of a run and beat the crap out of some pretty good football teams along the way. And was in this game till the 4th quarter.
Was a good game. Given the habit of the Vikes to let teams back in in the 4th quarter. I wasnt comfortable till the game was well into the 4th.
Pretty much came down to what I figured. Which lines showed up to play for each team.
Next week its going to come down to the same thing. Offensive/Defensive lines for each team.
Should be a hell of a game.
-
Well the NFL is doing away with the salary cap next year. That should be good news for Jerry Jones and the Cowgirls. COLTS v SAINTS superbowl?
Maybe not.
Under the NFL rules in the coming cap free The top 10 teams will only be allowed to sign one free agent. You will however be allowed to pay yoru existing players al the money you want to keep them LOL
Vikes are goiing to face the same situation. They are most certainly going ot loose Chester Taylor to free agency. The best they are going to be able to hope for is to loose one. get one.
-
Dat's who Dey Be..........
Saints played a great game both sides of the ball.
But the Cardinals also looked tired and flat. Tackling was horrendous.
-
How about those...... Jets??
Gotta admit. Im not a Jet fan But Im pulling for em this game. That whole underdog thing.
Something that would NEVER happen with me and the Gi-aints in the playoffs, whom I nearly loath.
Jets are playing a hell of a game.
-
Next week will be the game vikings and the saints
-
Wow, Jets just shocked the NFL...
Vikes Saints, Jets Colts.

I would like to see Colts and Vikings go at it in the Superbowl, two high powered quarterbacks should make for a great show!

For the moment. Im happy for the Jets fans. They've been so lo for so long they expect the team to loose almost every week. And it comes as a pleasent surprise when they actually do win one. but they are a loyal lot. I'll give them that. They finally have something to really cheer about.
Probobly the best defense since the NY Sack Exchange with Mark Gastineau,Joe Klecko, days. which is probobly before a bunch of you were born even lol.
A solid run game and an up and comming QB who one day I think is going to be something special. He just seems to have that "it" factor.
And a head coach who is almost as much a character as his father was. A perfect fit for NY.
Course the points going to come where the fans get a bit too full of themselves and then I can go back to disliking them again. LOL

Will the saints beat the Vikings?
Favre seems to be on a mission.

To tell you the truth, I think I'd rather see the Super Bowl feature Saints vs. Vikings. I don't mind the Colts or the Jets, I just think Saints/Vikings would be a better game to watch so I'll just have to settle for seeing it this Sunday.

I agree with you on that.
Besides, the Saints do owe the Vikings a return favor for 2000. They are just 10yrs late on paying them back. :D

It will be louder than usual, but I don't see it as a game changing advantage. Vikes will win the game because of the front 4 guys that they have. They absolutely destroyed Dallas's offensive line. The saints O-line, is not better than Dallas's. Vikes have a guy named Brett Favre, he had one of the best seasons of his career, and he is the best QB in the history of the NFL(until Peyton breaks all his records). Adrian Peterson, thats all I need to say about him.

Um... the last time the Vikings were in our Dome, Saints held Peterson to only 30 yds total for the game. They will probably do it again as the whole D is back and healthy. :D

It is the best vs the best...Vikes have Favre...Saints have Brees. Both are having great seasons. This game IS the best vs the best.
You have Peterson, we have Thomas, Bush (BUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!), Bell, and Hamilton.

Forgot about him completely, yes a great back!! I also think the variety of receivers will help the Saints...Moore, Colston, Shockey, Thomas, Henderson, Meachem, Roby...

It always seems like the Conference Title Games are the games of the year, almost better than the Super Bowl.
-
Forgot about him completely, yes a great back!! I also think the variety of receivers will help the Saints...Moore, Colston, Shockey, Thomas, Henderson, Meachem, Roby...
I think this game is really going to depend on the defensive lines. Because they stack up fairly equal in the offensive department. They both have problems with there secondary so to me its who's going to win in the trenches.
-

I mean you can go back and forth on this. In the end you have different teams playing different teams. With different matchups.
(Believe it or not, I actually think the Jets have a chance against the Colts because of the matchups. and will probably be a closer game then people think)
This should be a tough game. And again will come down to line play. And which teams show up. Each side is going to have to be wary of a letdown after this past weekends big wins.
-
I think this game is really going to depend on the defensive lines. Because they stack up fairly equal in the offensive department. They both have problems with there secondary so to me its who's going to win in the trenches.
Definitely, defenses win games. No doubt about it, Saints played the way they did the first few weeks defense wise, if they play in such a way again, the Vikes and Saints D's are pretty equal.
-

Vikes have a few of them too. Harvin, Rice, Berrian, Kleinsasser, Shiancoe, And two backs who can catch the ball Peterson,Taylor
Receiver wise I think its a wash. Actually in most areas I think its a wash. Its going to come down to line play

You know, I actually like Romo but his playoff record is pathetic and a strong case can be made that he is a choker on par with the old choke-king, Randall "hot dog a-hole" Cunningham.

That doesn't figure. The Hubie is a dome - and they love it.

Go Purple.

Actually he's wiping sweat out of his eyes. As far as choking... His line got their butts kicked by the Viking defense. Pick any Pro QB you want take away their protection and see what happens.
-
I have to agree with Shifty... If you put Romo in with another NFL team capable of protecting him (without penalties), the results will be far more impressive than with the Cowboys.
-
Pick any Pro QB you want take away their protection and see what happens.
As you saw with Cutler this year, Bears really need to build a better Offensive line to protect him.

Romo is a good QB. I would trade McNabb for him in a second. He may be a choker, but at least he hasn't vomited instead of marching down the field to win the Superbowl (but hey, McNabb is so talented. 11 years - that's all I have to say about that.). The Cowboys O-Line looked like a turnstile against the Vikes, so I don't know if you can call that last one a choke. He is a Cowboy though,(I'm an Eagles fan) so screw him. :devil
And dumping Carrie Underwood for Jessica Simpson? Dark Helmet Voice: "What's with you man?"
GO JETS!
-
As you saw with Cutler this year, Bears really need to build a better Offensive line to protect him.
Indeed, the offensive line and defensive secondary are probably the fundaments to a successful team. Counting the former as "most important" could be called the Madden school of thought, the latter could be lumped as the Walsh school.
As for Romo, agreed, it may not have been the case against the Vikes. However, consider the botched field goal hold vs. Seattle or his last layoff game against the Giants...
This year was notably different for the fact that he won one.
-

Generally agreed... McNabb is sort of oversold. I don't know if it's the AfAm thing but he gets more free passes than a gambling addict at the hotel buffet.
Who knows, maybe Romo was finally ready to get it done this year and had put the Seattle/NYG debacles behind him.

Nowadays I would agree. He was pretty sick at cuse' back in the day though. :rock Oh how I long for the days of good Syracuse football... :frown:

On the other hand the Vikes did the same to the Boys last week,,who beat the Saints
I mean you can go back and forth on this. In the end you have different teams playing different teams. With different matchups.
The only difference in the scheme of things was injuries. Saints had many key players out during the dallas game. They lost. Barely. Had dallas played them healthy, I have no doubt they would have lost.
With a full strength team that are healthy, this will surely be a tough game for the Viks, could be the shocker game for them as it was for the Cards.
Farve will experience pressure from the Saints for sure, which will cause him to quickly pass it or risk a sack, the question we should be asking is, is his experience good enough to get him through that without turning it over....... ?
-

2 BS calls already,,, thats ok,,, its just going to tick them off even more..... :rock
-
Man the Saints are really going after Farve.
-
Man the Saints are really going after Farve.
Yep, 5 hits so far.
Make him feel uncomfortable and he will start rushin passes...hopefully leading to turnovers.
-
I see this being like the GB Cards game, just a battle of touchdowns.
-
Saints defense really needs to put up a stop here...
-
That's what we needed!!!
-
I see this being like the GB Cards game, just a battle of touchdowns.
Yep! TD Henderson.
-
Yeah both teams just have such good QB's and offensive lines it's gonna be hard to stop the scoring. The over/under on the game was set at 54 but I think it will be well over that.
-

Yeah I thought it was high 40s mid 50s. I think around 30 pts per team.
-
Heh, now the defenses are rockin'...
-
WTF Reggie? Call a "fair catch"!!!!!!!
-
Least we got it back. Saved us one.
-
Yeah I thought it was high 40s mid 50s. I think around 30 pts per team.
Yeah I put a bet down on the game, I did a tease bet were you add 6pts to the spread, so the Vikings were +4 & the over/under was 54, so I got the Vikings at +10 and took the over at 48pts, I don't think them scoring over 48pts total points in the game will be an issue, so I'm just hoping the Vikings don't lose by any more then 10.
-
I suppose....well it's halftime...guess I'll fix another drink
-

At this point I just hope the Vikes don't even win at all lol.
-
NOW DAT'S DA WAY DEY SUPPOSED TA PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TD!!!!!!!!!!
-
What happened to our secondary? Must be dreaming.
-
D gonna have to do better'n dat if they expect to win
-
Vikings got really lucky there with that Peterson fumble, all tied up.
I knew that this was gonna be a tight high scoring intense game.
-
D gonna have to do better'n dat if they expect to win
Yeah. Not sure how we didn't recover that fumble...was just rolling out there and we couldn't fall on it.
-
Geez if he keeps giving us fumbles we NEED to get ONE of them.
-
Man the coach needs to duct tape the ball to Petterson's hands like in Friday Night Lights.
-
What a HORRIBLE CALL
These refs are very bias.
-
What a HORRIBLE CALL
These refs are very bias.
I disagree, he lifted Farve and drove him into the ground.
-
Thats what the annoucers were talking about, Favre was already off his feet off the throw.
-
If you ask me it looks like the Saints are playing dirty, their trying to hurt Farve.
-
Favre got banged up...I'm surprised they didn't call a penalty for something on the Saints for that too.
-
Surprised they didn't flag the Saints again for touching Favre.
-
Surprised they didn't flag the Saints again for touching Favre.
Exactly what I was thinking.
trax...trying to hurt him? More like just trying to GET to him.
-
Got there before me :D
-
I gotta wonder how many of these false starts really are.....
-
Not like the Saints will do anything with a pick but.
-
I'm gonna need a valium after this game :x
-
I disagree, he lifted Farve and drove him into the ground.
definitely questionable. Ironically he got hit low a few plays later and nada.
-
What happened to those awesome 3rd n long throws Brees used to work up? Like the 20-30 yard passes that were absolutely right on?
-
trax...trying to hurt him? More like just trying to GET to him.
Theres getting to the QB, and theres trying to inflict damage to the QB, and there trying to inflict damage to Farve.
-
Not like he can't complete against Vikes secondary.
-
About time we get one of those fumbles.
-
Weird fumble.
-
Thats the second fumble like that, just the last one the Vikings were lucky enough to fall back on, and actually gave them an extra 10 or so yards.
-
Yeah thats gonna be a TD, at least there over 48 now. :D
-
Think so, damn well hope so. The ref were really screwing us over on penalties though, can't argue that.
-
Exactly what I was thinking.
trax...trying to hurt him? More like just trying to GET to him.
No. Its obvious they are going for the hurt.
-
Can't believe with the ref RIGHT THERE they didn't call that a TD. But we got the challenge anyway.
-
No. Its obvious they are going for the hurt.
Im sure you wouldn't be complaining if it was Brees gettin railed like that.
-
Now D needs to get maddog tough and hold.
-
Brees must be an AH pilot...seen that quick "CHECK SIX"? :lol
-
Nice defense, really helps us.
-
Im sure you wouldn't be complaining if it was Brees gettin railed like that.
I'd say it if they were doing it to Brees, I'm not really a fan of either team, yeah I have money on the Vikings, but I just need them not to lose by more then 10, I'd be happy if the score stays just like this.
-
Another fumble!
-
Wtf is going on with the Vikings turnovers, they really need a clinic on holding onto the ball.
-
Lots of problems appearing...Saints can't get a first down on 3rd, and the Vikes keep turning over...
-
N.O really shouldn't of challenged that call, now there out of challenges.
-
Yeah...woulda saved it till later...they didn't really need that first down...
Heheh...first thing announcer said was "Peterson, hanging onto the football".
-
We should've challenged the spot not the call
-
Now if we can only stop the 3rd and XXX we'd be in a better position.
-
Saints? Stop a 3rd down? No way!
-
Wow, Petterson actually held onto the ball, lost his footing though.
Looks like this games about to get tied up.
-
Another flag what a frickin surprise.
-
Man, the Saints are being massacred by penalties.
-
Man, the Saints are being massacred by penalties.
You mean the Refs can do everything but give MIN a touchdown.....
-
Yep, something is up with the refs...we've got like 150 yds worth of penalties they have 15 or something.
Now I have no problem with Favre getting nailed every time.
-
Yep, something is up with the refs...we've got like 150 yds worth of penalties they have 15 or something.
Come on, don't tell me you actually believe the refs are conspiring against the Saints?
-
Come on, don't tell me you actually believe the refs are conspiring against the Saints?
No but a lot of these are BS penalties. It's like watching Syracuse play college Bball...you poke someone and get fouled.
-
What's this like 5 fumbles, 4 turnovers and Vikes still in the game. Wow!
-
Wouldn't have to call it if the saints were not committing them. Come on vikings one stop and a field goal and its the super bowl.
-
The Saints are doing a pretty amazing job though, they have only about 1/2 the total yards the Vikings have and it's a tied game.
-
Saints D? Plz show.
-
Are the vikings going to win by a feild goal?
-
Sad that the refs went as far as having saints to challenge the touchdown as well......... what a terrible ref team this is.
-
Yeah...if they win this I give em a lotta credit with all the bs penalties.
-
I think they are. If they score a touchdown that will be just as well.
-
That was a huge first down.
-
Looking like the Vikings are gonna win by a field goal.
Saints fans gotta pray for a miss.
-
That penalty can be a big help.
-
Wow, huge penalty.
-
There's a good penalty for da Saints. Can't have 12 in a huddle...
-
OH MY GOD
-
PICK
-
Wow, OT here we come.
-
Lookin like O.T.
-
Wait no flag?
-
geeezeeeee
-
Look at the pain on Farves face.
-
MIRACLE!
-
Think I'm gonna need a heart transplant after this...and a valium :D
-
Woot, just realized I won my bet, Vikings can't lose by 10 now. :aok
-
Wait no flag?
LMAO
-
win the toss please
GD
-
Saints receive!
-
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO we got the toss!!!!!!!!!!
-
This has to be one of the best playoff seasons I can remember, lots of close games.
-
Just need a very well put together Brees drive, no 3rd downs plz.
-
Think I'm gonna need a heart transplant after this...and a valium :D
What a crazy game.
-
Visions of Matt Haselback plays in my head when he got picked 6 on the first play in OT :D
-
Nice start.
-
This has to be one of the best playoff seasons I can remember, lots of close games.
I agree, both teams are a good match,,,, however I will stand by my statement that the officiating is terrible for a playoff game as well.
-
Great return.
-
I agree, both teams are a good match,,,, however I will stand by my statement that the officiating is terrible for a playoff game as well.
Agreed.
-
I think Farve is ment to go out with an interception. I mean look in 2007 his last pass was a pick. :rofl
-
WHY THE HELL ARE WE RUNNING
got lucky.
Butterfingers.
-
Wow, how the Vikings didnt come up with that ball I don't know.
-
Vikings need this stop.
I think they got a favorable spot.
-
He had a foot down over the line...
-
He had a foot down over the line...
Its where the ball is
-
He had a foot down over the line...
Yeah but he was bobbling the ball. He got control behind the line.
-
nvm for a sec.
-
Wow, that guy flew like Superman.
Uh oh, he lost control.
-
uh oh ball moved back after he lost control
-
He didn't lose control...it slipped lower but his hand was still glued to his body.
-
Gaurantee we lost the ball..... Its the only way they can give NFL's poster boy a shot.... :devil
-
Gaurantee we lost the ball.....
Yep knowing how much the officiating crew likes us.
-
Gaurantee we lost the ball.....
i hope your right :D
ah gd
-
He didn't lose control...it slipped lower but his hand was still glued to his body.
Should have this but ya never know the way they been callin this one.
-
Oh yeah. Now Saints, make something work.
-
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS
-
theres the game
-
Now all the flags are going against the Vikings.
Yeah that ball was uncatchable.
-
flag on them no way!!!!
-
Now all the flags are going against the Vikings.
Yep
-
The Vikings need a miracle now.
-
That catch might get overturned.
This would be the miracle they need.
-
The Vikings need a miracle now.
I am sure the Refs have a few "Miracles" in them yet...... :neener:
-
I am sure the Refs have a few "Miracles" in them yet...... :neener:
Not that they need any more but I agree, again.
-
Ok now the Vikings are gonna need at stop, and a missed FG.
-
Again YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
-
here we go
-
Cmon Hartley.

It all comes down to this.
Icing the kicker.

ITS OVER>>>>>>>
:neener:
-
Congrats to the Saints. Great game.
Didnt like some of the hits on Favre but in the end. The team that made the fewest mistakes won.
Good luck in the Super bowl
-
So they gave us like 800 yds worth of penalties and we still overcome. Black n Gold SB BABY.
-
crap. Farve will get hammered for that interception with in the last 17 seconds. All we had to do is run the ball call last time out. :cry
Good luck saints.
-
Keep dreaming.
Drems do come true!!!!!!!!!!
-
With all the mistakes the Vikings made in that game they didn't deserve to win, but even with all those mistakes they still made it a great close game.
-
Still a great game none the less.
-
Drems do come true!!!!!!!!!!
Well your only half way there, still gonna have to beat the Colts, who right now look to be on top of their game.
-
That's a superbowl style game...down to the little gritty mistakes teams do make and take.
-
History repeats itself. He loses a championship game in the dome due to an int twice.
-
To most folks in N'awlins, win or lose it won't matter.... we got there!!!!!
-
I'm sure Farve will be back next season with the Vikings, he's still got a season or 2 left in him.
-
SAINTS FIRST SB APPEARANCE
YEEEE HAAAAWWWW!!! :x :x WTG Saints...just wish I could have been there to watch it live in the dome...waited a lifetime for this one.
-
To most folks in N'awlins, win or lose it won't matter.... we got there!!!!!
Yeah we made the Superbowl in 06, only to have the Colts whoop on us. I'll just say enjoy it all you can now because just in case you do lose just making it isn't quite the same the day after, but I hope you guys do win.
-
Vikings keep losing nfc games :( Let down again. What a great game though
-
History repeats itself. He loses a championship game in the dome due to an int twice.
Adrian Peterson fumbling the ball multiple times contributed more to loss IMO.
WTG Saints very entertaining game! Bourbon street dreaming!
-
To most folks in N'awlins, win or lose it won't matter.... we got there!!!!!
Thats right, we made if farther than we have ever been. I am happy with what they accomplished to this point. Winning the Superbowl is the icing on the cake. Finally, we finally have a shot.
-
The Vikings beat themselves. Colts are going to smash the Saints.
-
The Vikings beat themselves.
Gotta agree, the Vikings just kept shooting themselves in the foot over & over, Peterson is really horrible at holding onto the ball, and it's not just in tonight's game that he's had this trouble, he's had this happen way to many times before, he really needs to spend some serious time working on that.
If you look at the stats of the game, besides the turnovers, you'd think theres absolutely no reason the Vikings should have lost.
-
Both teams with the best regular season record facing off in the Superbowl hmm, weird! :headscratch:
I wonder if the Manning family will be in full attendance in Miami? :devil
Well were guaranteed to see a few touchdowns in the superbowl. Ziggy Zoggy, Ziggy Zoggy .
-
The Vikings beat themselves. Colts are going to smash the Saints.
D*** my squaddie takin the Colts?!?!?!?! What is the world comin to?
-
crap. Farve will get hammered for that interception with in the last 17 seconds. All we had to do is run the ball call last time out. :cry

Yea he will. But the play that really killed them and blew their chance in raegulation wasnt that play, was the 12 man in the huddle penalty. Without that. That play probably never happens.
And to Favres credit. to take the pure beating he took and still be able to play the way he did. Kinda hard to knock the man for that play. I mean how much further could he have run it. It still would have ended up being a VERY long feild goal attempt as I dont think he would have been able to make the first down.
Still. way too many mistakes. particularly the fumbles. As good as AP is, if he cant get his fumbles corrected. I say trade him.
Vikes won the game in every statistical category cept for the two that matter most. Turnovers and points
Which really is a positive testament to both teams. For the Vikes To overcome that amount of penalties and end up taking the game to overtime with the real possibility to win it in regulation.
For the Saints. To be beaten in almost every category and still come out with a win.
Two great teams played in what has to be considered a "classic" This was what Championship games are supposed to be like.
-
Now that the emotional high and the booze is starting to wear down I just have to say.....
:salute Bret Farve for probably one of the toughest games of his career.
-

Yeah Farve could have easily stayed out of the game after that really bad hit he took to his ankle, but the guy just got it taped up and came back in. As for the INT Dred's right, should have never of even come to that, if they wouldn't have got the 12 man penalty the next play would have definitely been a run play to set up a FG attempt. So I think a lot of the credit goes to Farve for keeping them in the game even with all the turnovers.
I also agree, if AP can't get his fumbling troubles under control trade him, he might be a great running back, but he cost to many turnovers to make it worth having him. You can have tons of the greatest running plays, but it only takes a couple turnovers to lose a game.
-
Adrian Peterson fumbling the ball multiple times contributed more to loss IMO.
WTG Saints very entertaining game! Bourbon street dreaming!
Agreed. Favre. Nor that interception lost that game. The fumbles and the injury to Giffen in the OT kickoff probably had far more to do with it Actually in OT the injury to Griffen had everything to do with it. His replacement was a rookie and the Saits went right after him. as they should.
Then you could also look at the coaches for not Challenging one of the TDs by NO
Say he had run it. I think at best he gets them into something like a 56 yard FG attempt. Longwells long this season was 52
I cant in any way shape or form blame this loss on Favre, or that INT
-
BTW Saints..
You better win the damn SB.
It feels a hell of alot better loosing the championship game to the SB winner then it does to the SB looser.

I hope they do as well, at least for NFC sake.
Manning better watch those films close, he probably will also experience the fiercest pass rush in his career this SB..

Manning going to eat that pass rush up. Look at what happend to the Jets. I want the saints to win but I pick Colts by 10.
-
ps- I have the saints taking the nfc this year.
THANK YOU....I'LL BE HERE ALL WEEK!!!!
-
THANK YOU....I'LL BE HERE ALL WEEK!!!!
Should have put some money down on that prediction, probably had some really good odds on it back then.
-
I don't understand why people think Manning and the Colts are perfect and the Saints aren't...now all my friends are telling me Saints don't have a chance in the superbowl vs the Colts...:lol
-
Adrian Peterson fumbling the ball multiple times contributed more to loss IMO.
WTG Saints very entertaining game! Bourbon street dreaming!
Yes and the 100+ yards that the refs gave the vikes on us in penalties also did.
Edit: Oh yeah, 1000th reply.
-

The Vikings were the ones who ended up taking the worse of it on penalties by the end of the game, they got that pass interference on a ball that was totally uncatchable, the 12 man huddle call, and so on so penalties hurt all the way around, not just towards the Saints.
If the Vikings didn't shoot themselves in the foot so many times this game actually wouldn't have even been close, how many times did the Vikings fumble the ball and the Saints score off it, or fumble in there own red zone as there about to score, or an INT, the Saints didn't beat the Vikings, it was the Vikings that beat the Vikings. You can't say it's not right.

To my mind, Childress doomed 'em with his playcall on second down on that final drive. They should've passed since the box was loaded and the Saints were clearly expecting run. They needed about ten yards. As it was, the run got stuffed and then, after the idiot 12-man penalty, they were down to 3rd and 15; an obvious passing down.
Even so, they were lucky/skillful to be in it, given the turnovers.
-
If you play the odds, Colts by 4.
Unusual game, Top seeds are playing.
Also, Colts have been to the SB 4 times, all in Miami.
-
(http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj131/bayoubeach/SB1.jpg)
Odds didnt get them where they are, they actually beat the odds against them.
If they stack the odds against them in the SB, that will just make them play harder.
-
Personally I think the Colts are gonna win it, the Saints had a hard enough time beating the Vikings who were just messing up left & right all game long, and I think the Colts are a much better team then the Vikings, so unless the Colts melt down like the Vikings did I don't see the Saints winning it.
-
The Colts defense is a little less with the run though...but so is the Saints. I think for practice the next 2 weeks it'll be good for the Saints to run 3rd down plays on both sides, since they couldn't convert a 3rd on offense or stop one on defense...

I was just watching G4 and they had a quick segment on about EA's Madden football game, they said every year they use it to simulate the Superbowl to get the winner, it's been right ever year except in 08 when the Giants upset the Pats, and the game had the Saints winning 35-31.
-
Never heard of it, does it match the score as well or just the win.
EDIT:
I found what you were talking about..... Interesting.
Annual EA Super Bowl simulation
Every year since 2004, shortly before the actual Super Bowl, EA Games has run a simulation of the Super Bowl using the latest game in the Madden NFL series and announced the result. EA also releases a computer-generated description of the simulated game as if it were a summary of the real Super Bowl. The results of the simulated and actual Super Bowl games are listed below.
2004 - Patriots 23, Panthers 20[34] (Actual Score: Patriots 32, Panthers 29)
2005 - Patriots 47, Eagles 31 [35] (Actual score: Patriots 24, Eagles 21)
2006 - Steelers 24, Seahawks 19 [36] (Actual score: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10)

As for the dynasty, doubt it... There's, imj, too much player mobility for that anymore. In a way, I think they've overdone the parity thing. Staff no longer hang around long enough to give a team an essential character. I miss that from the old days.
But, yes, The Aints fans should enjoy a day of drunken revelry. It's been a long time coming. Que ironia, btw, that Archie Manning never got his ring and that the Saints would win it at one of his boy's expense...

I enjoy reading the start of this thread up to this point, and knowing what we know now.
I always believed we had a shot with this team, they finally had it together and seen things from them that would never have been attempted or accomplished in the past.
<S> to The Fans that stood behind their teams win or lose, that's what makes a true Fan. I should know, been there for many years on the losing side.
Its been a wonderful ride for the Saints and I am ecstatic beyond words. We can finally put away those paper bags for the moment and sit back and say we finally made it.
This surely ranked as one of the most exciting games I can remember in the SuperBowl that's for sure.
See you next Year!!!

Indeed. It's not like it was a "blowout" like the score kind of shows. It was very good game and until that last play the Colts did have a slim chance, thats what makes a good game.
