To clarify......Best at using ACM

Not score.......Many sticks from the top 50 in Fighter score are easy kills in a 1v1 or when they arent hiding in the horde

My list only contains players who are currently active in Aces High 2.

If I could only choose three players:

Grizz.
Bruv119.
Joey of TonyJoey.

If I could choose more than three players then the following names would be included:

BatfinkV.
Wmaker.
SkyRock.
DrBone.
Kermit.
Lazer.
Sunsfan.

Respect for the God like sticks which I've come across in days past.

Wilbuz.
ManeTMP/BluKitty.
Levi.

SkyRock already asked me this in another thread and I sent him a pm of one, I think almost everyone who has fought him in a even fight(if any) would have to agree with me ............................. ............................. ............................. ... and no the one I gave him didnt start with a P

Ill have to disagree with the "who cares" not because I want to be up here but I would like to fight them, and most of the names I already have. When I was a new guy to the game I thought the best sticks were the guys landing alot of kills in the MA, this however is not true most of them actually aviod fighting anyone.

This thread can be used by new guys to look up good sticks who may be able to help them out when none of the trainers are on, or they are in private lessons. I personally never spent time with a trainer which is my fault but I didnt think I needed to because I landed a decent amount of kills. Then I DAed SunsFan and saw I sucked and got some help. Call it stroking egos but I bet most of the players on these lists have helped more people then you have at getting better at this game.

Batfink I'll place a vote fore. Had a great 1 on 1 with him a while back (Spit 5 for me vs his Mossi) that is still one of my favorite fights I've ever had.

DrBone is pretty good as well

Anyone from the 80th Headhunters or SAPP when they get in a P-38. They always get me.  :aok

Banshee7, Talon, The AA's, LINDY, B6Pacman, 707200, and a bunch of other guys are fairly good, along with everyones favorite uncle....unclkurt  ;) :salute

Corky always a fun fight
Del typically pretty fun...I am jealous of his aim
Agent is fun, havent ran into him in forever tho
DrBone has been a pleasure lately
Wmaker in that damn brewster...grr
Sunsfan is a handful in K4  (had a couple good G14 vs K4 fights with him)

actually hard to thing of good stick that I have fought lately, most of them fly on low numbers side like I do...or just different times

I miss seeing RumbleB in the skies, he was good fight.

I think Grizz and TonyJoey make the top two, and if Tony still flew like he did in the summer, Tony would beat Grizz, more than Grizz can beat TonyJoey. But now I think it would be the other way around.

Don't forget about me! Just about everyone listed there I have beat in an even dual.

well this is hard, most on every one lists I have fought, and many of them were easy kills, excluding a few, and like some others have said, they could have been having a bad day, or I was having a good day.

my list of who I consider to be the best is as follows

sunsfan-extremly good at reversals
Grizz-best shot I ever seen, I think of him as "cool hand luke"
skyrock-very well versed in ACM
lazer-another one very good at ACM
Steve-Awesome energy fighter.

I like this list and that is not to downplay many many other sticks who are most worthy. Greebo always stands out. I admire the guy duking it out with spits are anything in his f6. He does not die easy. Filth doesn't fly as much as he use to. However, if you fly against him you realize you have your hands full. He often fights with inferior planes, i.e P40. He gets many many <S> after battle.

You can add Delirium and Kappa. Both deadly with the p38.

Let me help you with your The Few progandaing -- DrBone.  Guy is a top stick already and is only going to get better.  He picks up on things very fast and will be one of the best all around pilots in a few more months, if not already.  I still think he's a tater noob though, which is where the game became the game for me once I learned how to shoot those things.   :D

Bone has natural talent and the hunger to improve, he also has a sponge like ability to soak up ACM from people he duels.

It's scary.
I like bone, hes a good guy, and has a scary fast learning skill.

Drex
Levi
Fester

My top 3 of all time.

Junky, Levi was a pure monster.  He did things in his Spit V that I thought for years was impossible.

As for "today" that is a good question.  I really need to start dueling more and have been slacking off for the past couple years.

Hmmm top stick at the min and prob for the last year 1v1 is Kazaa, I'd post Bruv as well but apparently if his head swells any more he won't be able to fit through the door and will have to give up the game so...  :lol to many good sticks out there really but in no particular order...

Grizz
Delirium
Soulyss
AKAK
AKDogg
WMLute
Creton

i think i'd say the guys that take the time to explain to their victims what they did wrong after a fight. i've fought a couple of guys that've come on open channel, telling me what i'm doing wrong, AS i'm fighting them.

those fights have always been good, clean fights, win or lose. you guys know who yas are too.  :aok

I'm usually in bed dreaming of sweet things when you lot are clashing around the MA and Dueling each other so I never expect that many to remember or put my name forward when it comes to these glorification threads.

I would say the biggest things that can define a top stick;

Frequent KOTH wins
Consistent top 20 fighter rank positions month in month out
regular high scoring kill runs not just your 4,5,6's but double digits.  (easily able to maintain a 10:1  K/D when you are trying)
A good dueling reputation where you can hold your own against the top 10%.

How many of these 'top sticks' have taken a new guy under their care and showed them how to play AH from top to bottom? How much time has any one of them spent helping a new guy setup his stick and taught him how to merge? How many of them answer a single solitary question in the text buffer like 'how do I move my PT boat?'

Now go find your top stick.  :neener:

patience is a good trait to have as a fighter pilot.   Are you telling me that the top ten fighter rank guys every month do not have any skills whatsoever and couldn't pwn little old junky into the middle of next week??

I think not!

just because you do not bother with these things don't assume you could post such stats...  I do neither anymore but the records speak for themselves.

Bruv,
From the names in the top 10, I can and have beat many of them 1v1(not saying I beat them more then they beat me but Ill hang with them)....others on there...like Hoagi....Oh gosh finally the name actually came out...I have seen him flying his LA behind a horde from both sides....he hides like a coward behind his sqaud....at least J0ker can back up hiding in a horde by actually being good

I wont ever probably go for top 10, I have thought about it, but after an hour of picking I had no fun because there wasnt any skill behind my kills I was getting.

This is what its about Bruv http://www.mediafire.com/?dolokkrgdfz

There is tons of great pilots like Bone, Del, Corky, Kazaa, Lazer, ect..

Then you have the great pilots who are also great leaders dhyran and bruv. Its one thing to be a great pilot when fighting but another when fighting and leading. Imho that creates another dimention to their skill level which makes them stand out.

But then you have one guy who is propably the pilot I admire the most and thats Greebo. All of the other pilots mentioned fly with other good to great pilots. But Greebo works alone he fights where there is a fight to be fought regardless who is there or how it looks. He flies in a plane that is extreamly hard to be successfull in as a lone ranger due to its limited views. Not only is he successfull in his F6F but he manages to strike fear in his opponenets like no other player can. You always hear "carefull guys Greebo is around watch the F6Fs in the area" over vox, you never hear that with any other pilot to such a big extent as you do with Greebo.

So my vote for best pilot in game goes to Greebo.

Tex

I generally have to agree with Karaya.

1.) Drex
2.) Levi
3.) Everyone else

Currently flying today?  I'd say Kappa, Delirium and the third is a toss-up for me between TC and Grizz.

At the end of the day, though, there are so many criteria for "best" that you can go in multiple directions.  By plane, for example, I'd say Dogg is the best in a Corsair.  51 is a tossup between Oldmn and Steve.  109 between Agent and he who does not play anymore, etc, etc...

And there are still so many names missing from this thread... just serves to reinforce Karaya's post.  The third spot can be populated by twenty or thirty guys on "any given Sunday."

I'd say 657325 but lately I've seen 426897 more often and he's really to the point of almost being unbeatable. The thing about 657325 is the fact he is always a gentleman where 426897's head will rotate from time to time and you'll have to call in a priest.

As for a third choice... I have not seen 000003 in a long time.

I think i would have to give my vote to the following for their undeniable skill and willingness to always engage in a fight no matter what the odds.

1) Greebo (I never like to see an F6-F in british markings)

3) WMlute (Always a good fight when we meet)  :rock

Always interesting how these lists turn out...this may be the only one i agree with and I would likely switch kappa out and move Lute up.  AkDogg deserves to be in the top 3.  To be fair to Kappa I dont run into him much.  Grizz is playing very well these days as well and should be on a list.  Kazaa is a solid stick as well.  Unfortunately alot of the guys responding to this aren't long time vets who haven't really sampled what is out there.  I agree with the poster who recommended flying KoTH.  I thought I was uber until the first time I flew in there and had my pants flown off.  Alot of those guys are names you won't even consider for this list and they are better MA sticks.

What is more interesting is pull up threads like these over the last 5-7 years and see how our collective memory fades.  It just shows that whoever is number one today can be completely forgotten if they dont stay front and center on these boards and ch 200 in the game.

What gives me the most hope is that folks recognize Greebo's talent even though he is a quiet player. :aok

Personally I feel there is no best pilot.  There are great pilots but no best pilots.  1 main reason is this:  Pilot x can beat pilot y, but pilot x can't beat pilot z, where pilot y can beat pilot z.  What it comes down to is like someone said earlier that any one of the great pilots can be top dog at any given time.

I didn't do the search myself...I just remember the changing list over reading the boards everytime this topic comes up.  I imagine "top sticks" or "best pilot" would work though.  For whatever reason when i do searches it is horribly slow.

BTW good job posting the tournament bracket...i do think that reveals some of the names i would be considering more then what made it up here. :aok  Wish I could see the bottom brackets....

I still like the KoTh format though because set merges are not as important and you can't have wingmen...a lot of times in a duel the best merge has a huge advantage.

I have heard by many many sticks that you are, always have been, and will always be the "best".
so one of these days we should get together and duel I would like to see what ya can do.

personally I know I am not on anyones list because I am by far the worst shot in game(or damn close to it), I have fought just about every one mentioned and have killed them all, some very easy some not so much, grizz has definitely killed me more, his aim is uncanny and SUNSFAN that cat is very good.  some names on peoples list I can kill easily 1 vs 1, no I am not chest thumping just stating facts, (I am confidant in my ability as a cartoon pilot)
I feel as far as ACM-SA-merge tactics I am very solid, I have killed 5 or more trying to kill me on more then one occasion, but it is after I am warmed up and shooting good, I know without a doubt there are very few in here that could do that .
Do I think I am the "best" nope, BUT from what I have heard(from very respectable sticks) YOU are so, I would enjoy a "test" of myself against you, if you are ever up for it let me know.

Well that's the thing about these type of lists, or any subjective list for that matter - it's all about who we encounter most or who stands out - a few are more or less agreed upon and the rest get all jumbled up.

My claim to making the list (in the past) was as equally attributable to my smack as much as it was my willingness to mix it up.

One of the nicest things anyone said about me in AH (and yeah, I've done my time helping, etc) was from Morpheus (and hoping his rehab continues):

"Shane is very consistent at being inconsistent and unpredictable.  You always have to stay on your toes with him.  Pay attention to the closure rate on merge – that will give you a good idea of his E.  You will get to know how fast the other plane is by how fast the distance meter is ticking down.  Again, something that will come with time and practice.  Any kill on Shane is hard earned and never given to you.  He always makes me work hard, and will always make you push your limits.  ~Morpheus"

I'll take  a compliment like that over making a list any day.

<edit: I'd trade it all for better gunnery.  :noid >

Hah, that's precisely how I felt when Shane and his La7 came along.  I was spoiled by flying with Fester/Cit or Lazer when I flew back then, and used to poaning everything in site.  However, a lot of "WTF's!" were heard by the wife whenever I ran into Shane.

X2 on the ch200 a la Shane here as well, nothing go me laughing harder than him smacking someone after a fight.

good list Slapshot.  I tried to separate the "older generation" that do not play (or hardly play) anymore from the current group that plays regularly.  I did forget Greebo on my list (cant believe I did that).

Another name to add that not longer plays...Taki.  I hated that guy for the longest time.  He whooped me all the time.  Finally made the "break though" and got him a few times, was like a weight off my shoulders lol.  He was pleasant to wing with as well.

Nomak would be one other I add to that.  He taught me an awful lot in the DA.

Has anyone added Slapshot and his damn FM2 or F6F?  I hate running into him down low!  The old 56th guys in their Jugs always did things in them that I didn't see anyone else do.  Ran into a guy named Jugler who was doing some crazy things in a Jug on the deck  Shade? Not sure but scary good in it.

OlDemon does things in a 51D on the deck I don't see other guys do either.  No idea how he turns it so well.

Seems like there are lots of guys who have mastered individual birds and get more out of them then anyone else.

I dont really have much of a list to offer up as most of the better pilots. Or ones I know to be better pilots, I dont meet up with all that often to make that determination. particularly in the MA. With so much else you have to try to be constantly aware of.

Shane, You would definitaly be on any list I'd have as one of the best. Because I've had enough encounters with him to know that with a pretty good degree of certainty. Shane is one of the ones I make mental notes of whenever I encounter him can identify him when he's around. He is also one of the ones I will make a point of going after when I know he's around. Not just to get a kill on him. But rather because I know he is potentially one of the greatest threats and I'd much rather have him in front of me. Then for him to suddenly turn up behind me as is what is often prone to happen when some of the better pilots are around.

With someone that dangerous in the area. You just cant count on someone else to deal with him

Master of causing the overshoot, then making you pay for doing so. I'd have to agree with pretty much everything Morpheus said.
Under the best of circumstances. Shane is no easy kill, even when out numbered.

I'd have to give credit to Shane for some of the evasives I use in game to cause overshoots. Though most are easier to successfully pull off in the La then the D9. I've used alot of his moves as a basis on developing my own. Which has saved my arse on numerous occasions. I just wish I could capitalize more often (gunnery)on gained positions on some of the better pilots as I often find myself having pulled off a move and gaining the position I wanted. Only to end up missing the shot in the very brief time its available.

And that seems to be a constant in all the best pilots. They dont remain a shootable target for long. So when you do get those opportunities. You better make them count before they do.

It seems like there are some that go looking for the fight low that always stand out to me as I tend to be down low.  I know there are guys who use their plane just right and set up the fight to their advantage and they are good at it.  There are also those guys who take the other guy's advantage and turn it on them.  Those are the guys that amaze me.

sunsfan

Wetrat
Agent360
AKRaven

Are the guys I have real good 1 vs 1's with... Im usually on the losing end in my bomber though.. one day ill start the k4... ;)
Hey, someone remembers me :p

all-time hardest fights I'd say:

fester (when he was still very active)
kappa
nathBDP
leviathn
morpheus (hope he's doin ok!)
Lute (but only in Val's or 202's)
wildthing
manetmp/blukitty (more because I liked shooting him/her/it down than anything.. I was a bad matchup for his flying style.. usually had the edge)

Can't think of anyone else that I would go out of my way to take out simply because they're dangerous. Lots of good sticks, but no others stand out imo.

Has batfink gotten better or something? Noticed a few people name him... he used to be pretty bad, and I'm thinking of when he'd already been flying for a few years, not when he was still green. Must have changed I guess.

What is more interesting is pull up threads like these over the last 5-7 years and see how our collective memory fades.  It just shows that whoever is number one today can be completely forgotten if they dont stay front and center on these boards and ch 200 in the game.

Yeah.. I can think of lots of guys I've flown with over the years that could spank most of the names being listed here. Maybe great now, but lots of great sticks come and go.

My list is based on people that are peeking right now in any arena top 5.  These top 5 have demonstrated skills in a variety of aircraft and can fight and ACM in any aircraft to beat their opponent.

In no order:
Dedalos aka deadalot  :O
Grizz
Mtnman
Sunsfan
Krupnski

There are a lot a great sticks that are not peaking or 'in the zone' but were there at one time or another.  There are guys I never fought or rarely fought to give an honest perception of where they are at.

Has batfink gotten better or something? Noticed a few people name him... he used to be pretty bad, and I'm thinking of when he'd already been flying for a few years, not when he was still green. Must have changed I guess.

ya a couple years ago a few muppets had to whip him into shape. i hope he's doin ok otherwise it was all for not  :huh

The best sticks are those that put forth the effort getting slaughtered by sticks better than them.  Conditioning yourself to not do something anymore because you are sick of the result of doing such maneuver, ie., getting killed and having to take off again.  I started dueling and focusing on ACM a little over a year ago.  When I started I had a general idea what I was doing but ultimately sucked.  I'd get smacked around like a red headed step child by the likes of Dedalos, batfinkv, kazaa, Shane, SkyRock, Agent360, Scotch, Texture, Tonyjoey, VIOLATOR, Pawz.  There are others, point being, I wasn't as good as these guys and that irked me.  I'd call it a combination of having a little bit of ego and competitive nature to want to be as good as these names but also being able to humble oneself and accept these guys were flat out better and to learn from them.  If they can do it, why can't I?

I never understand why pilots are so afraid to go duel 1v1s in the DA and possibly learn something.  It's as if they feel like they are being set up when they get challenged or invited to duel.  "If I go to the DA, he's going to find out I'm not as good as I pedestal myself to be so I'll just stay here and talk smack in the safety of my numbers". I remember when I was challenged by Skyrock and Agent360 to the DA after they got annoyed by my MA picking escapades.  I have to thank them for bringing the competitive and sporting spirit out of me in the game by smacking me around in there.  That was the beginning for me.

Mostly every night there's 1v1s going on between bases A23 and A24.  Find out what plane is being flown, pick a side to even it out, and have at it.  You'll get ten times the quality of fights in a tenth of the time in the MA.  If you're looking to get better this is how it's done.

Bone has natural talent and the hunger to improve, he also has a sponge like ability to soak up ACM from people he duels.

It's scary.

I've always enjoyed my fights with him, it's nice to run into a Spitfire driver that actually knows what he's doing.  Wish he'd pop in MW more often, only real challenging fights I've come across is when guys like DrBone, Slapshot, Stang and Dedalos drop in.

TC, one of 1,000 names was Bovidae lol. He is trying to come back but he is so old, by the time the computer boots up, he forgets why he turned it on lol

BH is both a great stick(one ofthe best) and personally responsible for teaching a lot of guys while operating under one of his many nicknames. I was going to jump in if no-one had mentioned him.

Of the old guard Levi,Drex,Nath,Mane/Bluekitty,Wildthing all seemed to have an "X" factor that set them apart from the rest . Other guys that were also great sticks Shane Stang Dedalos TC SR Kappa . In coming back recently a couple of people that have I've seen in the DA like Grizz and Sunsfan are great sticks and good guys to go with it.

Beats me why people are scared to fight someone better then them , it's the only way to improve.

I like Twinboom,Delirium,SkyRock,Kappa,Lazer,Hooch.Souless,Killnu,These are guys I had the pleasure of flying with.Since the 475th broke up,and my friends went on to fly with other squads, like the Muppets, now I have these guys shooting down my cartoon plane, and I can really appreciate their  skill.Levi gave me the pleasure of letting me ride in his plane, and I must say he belongs on a list of top pilots.Another choice would be Shane, and he's not last on any list.He can fly as good as he can piss you off.Steve is another good one,and don't make the mistake of picking him,as your ears will be overburdened with his input!Greebo is a really nice guy,and don't get slow with his "Cat" or he will make you pay.If he has managed to get you slow, don't try exiting,as he can hit you real regularily at 800 meters! When I was with the 71st,Batfink displayed an uncanny ability to destroy the other guys aircraft.I also liked Snaphooks ability in  a A20.The whole 71st squad had a lot of good sticks, and they would be my choice of top squads if a best squad poll ever came up.

If they can do it, why can't I?

And that sums it up.

About 5 years ago (maybe longer?) I was at 2K in a spit over the water.  I saw this little lonely spit 5 about 10 feet of the water.  The guy looked AFK so with all my skillz I hit the wep and dove in.  1K...800..600 ready to fire, the guy does not know I am there 400 . . . spit pulls up, rolls and I am in the tower.  Some old guy name SlapShot or something like that had killed me lol.  From that day all I wanted to do was learn how to do that and every time he was in the area, I would go after him just to see how I would do.  He had become my measure of skill lol.  But that is what made me change.  That one moment was my WTF? What did he just do?  Why can't I do that?  I was also lucky to get in the DA at a time that bighorn, nomak, morph etc . . . . where at their prime and learned a lot form them and the very high nymber of fights you could put in in an hour in the DA.  That environment does not exist anymore so the new guys will have a litle bit of harder time getting there.

One more thing, after Slap killed me that day I did not change fields, did not call my friends, and did not get a lala to go HO him.  I went back in the same plane and same alt to get spanked again and again.  You got to have that in you also.

Upped a CV and fought a LA-7 in an F6f.  Found myself in the tower quick.

So I upped a Seafire.  Lala is low, we fought, BOOM back in the tower.

Ok, now i'm getting miffed.

Upped a zeke and just as quick BOOM back in the tower.

Upped a zeke two more times and both times found myself dead fairly quickly.

Hrmmm.....

How can a La7 stall fight and WIN otd vs. a zeke??

That fight started me down the road of seeking out all the "good" sticks in the game and trying to figure out how to win a fight.  It musta been 6-7 years ago ish.

The lala pilot was Shane.

In my opinion the best La7 pilot the game has ever had.

See what?   Drex and Levi are ACM Surgeons.  The rest of us are "hack surgeons".    Those two are also VERY humble about their abilities and are gentlemen to boot.   Well, I don't know about Drex, some say Slapshot keeps him locked in a cage and rarely feeds him.

lol when are you  gonna get in your heads its not "what" they fly it is HOW they fly.

I don't care what a person Flies he can fly a P-40 and do nothing but Vulch does that make him cool? or "UBER"

personally I think those that judge others on what they fly, Are lame.

I also think that when some fly high eny planes exclusively they use that as an excuse "well I was in a -insert any 20+- eny plane...."

friggin Hurri IS a FIGHTING mans plane, one of the slowest in game, one of the easiest to get away from...how the frig is that "easy mode" ?

allthough I do agree with you it is Easy mode ONLY if you know how!!  and that goes for almost any plane!  with few exceptions.

thats what I am saying...The plane is far from "easy Mode"  the 16 ya thats "easy mode" the 51 ya the K4 ya the temp ya 38 ya ECT ECT... they all are in the right hands, you take someone who truly knows the 38 and he will be a killer even against planes that he should no be able to.  I fought someone reciently in the P-40 he was in it, I was straight up impressed, he killed me twice in planes I dont normaly fly, so I came back and smoked him in the Hurri  :D

I can say that I have overlooked Texture until he was mentioned in this post. I forgot how good he was in a fight. I've always admired Batfink and Dedalos to be always good all the time.
I think the thought goes that A can beat B on diffrent times, but when A can beat B all the time, and even on the bad days, that's when you know they are good. Batfink and Dedalos are good examples of that. I can only just barely beat them at any given time, no matter what they doing. I have not honestly fought Grizz in the DA in quite a long time (hint hint) so I really don't know how much he has progressed in the past couple of months. I can say when I have fought him, one of us are at the disadvatage with the planes, and one or the other wins.

As far as WMLute goes, and I am sure that I have heard him say this a couple of times, that he is the best when it comes to the SA. He has taught many people when it comes to SA, and that is where he beats most everyone there. Have I beat him a couple of times? Yes, has he beat me a couple of times? Yes.

I still seemed to be overlooked here, I've been able to beat quite a couple of people there, and multipule times to boot. I have quite a few KOTH wins under my belt, only time I don't win now is because I am not there to finish the whole thing, and even then I still come out with a win or a be a wabbit. Everytime I'm there at KOTH to finish it I win. Anytime someone wants me to prove it, I would be glad to.

see....to me the spit16 is 10 times harder to fly than the 5 or 9. i totally suck in it. p-40..i flew once a long time ago..found out it'll compress...as i flew through a formation of buffs, straight into the side of a mountain... :rofl

the 38 to me isn't easy either. although faster than a hurri, ya still need that e management, and sa. she don't accelerate that fast, a lot can still outrun her, and a lot can out turn her.
hell....cobia handed my bellybutton to me last night, down at 5k in his dam a20. 4 times.  :furious

i think i got him 2x. once, he was on the deck, hurt, i was gonna let him replane, but because he's one of the few that live for the fight, he said to "come get some". on one engine, he made it hard......th other time, i STILL don't know what the hell i did right.....but i got him in my 38G.

i guess i need to start going to the DA, my problem is when I'm in a fighter is not know when or when not to dive into a fight, or trying to get the plane to do something its just not capable of doing which always ends up in me dying  :headscratch:  I don't care about "rank" but i do want to improve greatly and hopefully someday be thought of as a great stick, I'm good but theres so much room to improve and like i said i wanna learn better ACM and SA, all the 1v1 i find myself in is a 50/50 chance either i die or win, provided no one tries to cherrypick who I'm fighting or me  :headscratch:

I have not been around too much to know all the pilots mentioned earlier, and I never flew much in MA either..
But the names of good sticks that pops up in my mind is Agent360, Bentnail, Spacy, EAce, Fiat, Pervert and Nrshida. The list should be much longer, but atleast I've put in a few more names that should not be forgotten..  :salute

Wilbuz & KillnU for introducing me to how devastating & scrappy the ki-84 can be in skilled & determined hands :D
Bruv119 Kazaa Batfink(kazaa probably best stick in the game at the moment)

a couple of the muppets obviously as they've always been my choice opposition
sunsfan agent360 skyrock always turned up for fun fights vs them kay-fizzles grizz & moot for flying that annoying tata thing I can never see if it's coming at me or what direction its going.

I haven't played for a while so I probably don't remember all the names of my most encountered villains.

oh and just thought i'd put in a dishonourable mention for these two guys who have never given me an even remotely interesting fight:

Top Overall Ranking – Hoagi, runner-up pacerr

Probably the two worst & pathetic nonfighting sticks with the best ranking in the game... huzzahh!

Im gonna have to disagree. Although kazaa is a beast. But it really is a toss up of a few players. Kazaa has great ACMs SA. Grizz is the master of finding the angle. You show him the slightest bit of an angle you are a dead man. His aim is the best ive ever seen.

And this whole Levi and Drex deal. well, theryre not here are they? Long gone and most likely wont be back. So that says enough for me. They were unreal in the day. But this isnt yesterday, its now and tomorrow.

Here is a list of players i love fighting.

most of the muppets
most of the 80th ladies  :neener:
Kazaa
bruv
Dedalos and i have had some great fights
Batfink

The thing is, there's a group of pilots who are able to kill one another based on the setup and shots each miss.  It's tough to find out who is truly 'better' between pilots who are so close.  You'd honestly have to fight many many fights in many different aircraft spanning over many dueling sessions and tally the results.  It's like a poker match, playing 10 hands and then tallying who won more money isn't an indication on who the better player is.  You have to play tens of thousands of hands before the edge is exposed.  I think you'd honestly have to duel a guy in excess of 100 duels in various aircrafts to figure out who is 'better' when it comes to elite sticks.  It doesn't matter though, once you get to a certain point it's all in fun and it doesn't matter as long as you get the competitive juices flowing and each guy wins his fair share.

Well put, which is why I'll usually say Drex and Levi (they ARE in a class all by themselves), then everyone else.   It isn't a "slam" on anyone who is a great stick.  It is the bold quote above which has a few people scrambling for 3rd and the rest of say...the top 10.   ANYONE from 3rd to 10th could whip each other's arse, but then have a complete outcome every time.

Again, excellent summary Grizz.   :rock

I've never come across some "as consistent" as those two Kazaa.   Sure they're going to "not land at times", but I don't know of many folks that dogfight with bombs attached to their planes and still land 5+ kills (Drex).

Greebo is the closest "consistent" person to them IMO.

So, are you saying Wilbuz wasn't consistent? I'm not sure how it answers Kazaa's question.
He was pretty consistently outnumbered yet annoying the hell out of opposition every time I've seen him.

Wilbuz is good or at least was, since he no longer plays but one time flying with Lev really stands out.  We're both on the deck with me just having finish taking off and Lev is about 5k away in a Spit V when he is bounced by 6 planes.  I tell him that I'm on the way, fully expecting him to have been picked by the time I get there and to my surprise when I do get there, Lev only left one bandit for me to kill as the other 5 were already dead.

Another time, I see Drex in a Ju88 engage 4 bandits and watched him work his magic as he flew that thing like a Spitfire and shot down all 4 bandits in a very short time, think the fight lasted just a couple of minutes.

Watching those two at the top of their game was something definitely to see.

I can only recollect about 3 or 4 times I've come across Wilbuz in the 8+ years I've been playing.   Airmess is another "european" who was consistent.  Since "some are feeling slighted" in a fit of overreaction.

There is always a 'best' but I don't think you can objectively figure out who that is unless the top pilots duel a ton and record the results.  If you're beating a pilot in excess of 60-70% of the time over the span of a couple dozen duels, you are statistically likely to be better.  If however, you are winning or losing in the 45-55% range over a couple dozen duels, it's too close to call and would take a plethora of more duels to determine who is actually 'better'.  Last time I dueled Kazaa, the only plane he was better in was the Spit16.  Everything else imo was too close to call, not enough data points to conclude anything other than it was very close.

I have quite a few KOTH wins under my belt, only time I don't win now is because I am not there to finish the whole thing, and even then I still come out with a win or a be a wabbit. definitely not up there bro sorry, I fought ya a bunch of times and from what I recall it was not at all difficult to send ya to tower,as a matter of fact I think we very recently fought in the Mains, and I sent ya to the tower in all of two turns, both times.(I think you had numbers also) no disrespect meant, so don't take it that way, but there are guys that are truly "great" and you just don't make the list.  YET keep at it maybe you will achieve that.

Even that is not the perfect way to measure.  There really is no way to measure because like I said before.  There to many different styles of flying.  Pilot A can beat pilot B, pilot A can't beat pilot C, but pilot B can beat pilot C.  It happens all the time.  Some can fight many styles of flying but there will always be a few that u can't.

If I wasn't there to see if for myself, I would have attributed to just another AH urban myth as well.  That was probably one of the most skillful displays of airmanship I have ever seen in any flight sim in the 17 years I've been playing these games.

Idk about that, if you can't adjust your style based on how you are losing then you aren't that good.  Same with my poker analogy, if you get exposed playing a certain way and you don't adjust you are going to get killed.

Some people have a style they prefer hoping to find others who share the same. Players who dont offer less satisfactory fights win or lose. Its not so much changing how they fly to beat others, as it is enjoying the rare fights they have with those like them.

I was talking about a long extended DA session.  If you keep dying the exact same way and fail to make an adjustment... :headscratch:

You have to adjust. i agree 100%. As youve seen of me in the DA from the last month. It isnt a matter of getting better. It about adjusting your style. Which is something i never done until this last week or so.

Grizz I have already noticed what you are talking about fighting against you and Krup. You got some nasty merges that get me alot(but Im starting to figure it out) Krup is nasty when we get into scissors but doesnt merge(or aim) quite as good as you. For me to beat you I need to drag the fight on longer, for me to beat krup I need to get him quick, which I try to with a little throttle action on the merge.

I still lose most though........But when I get back its on!!!!!

Ink I was just giving Bear a hard time because I found him Bnzing in a hurri one day :D

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but stogey could whip the crap out of anyone any day. He could be flying one handed, wife barking at him, dog yelling to get off the puter while he is kicking the cat across the room.

All that aside, im not up on the new blood but back when I was in the dueling circuit my money on top three would be drex levi and nath.

I recall fighting drex in the combat theater, he was in a yak T i believe dont remember what i was in. Hell i even had a wingy at that time and neither of us could get a shot off. we would get close, then he would throw some pixie dust out and next thing ya know hes behind ya.

Also as some have mentioned, its not just his insane flying skills but his really humble attitude. you could be sitting off the runway in a tank playing whack a mole as he spawns and he would still throw ya a salute.

ive never dueled drex or levi, i have fought the guys in the MA though. levi could do things in his spit that would defy logic. ive also had the pleasure of riding jumpseat with lev a few times watching in amazement as he dispatched five or six cons at a time.

last but not least there is nath. I had the honor of dueling him for several hours one day, in what i considered my best dueling plane (spit 5) and had very long intense fights leaving me in the tower every time. i posted the films of these duels a long time ago, and if memory serves he was back from a break shaking rust off.

And when levi and nath would get together for 2v2s you couldnt help but feel like you just got back stage passes for your favorite band while watching these guys.

to be honest im not sure if we will ever see guys of this caliber flying again. im not sure what drex or nath are up to these days, but last i heard levi is still playing fairies in warcraft. :)

i really feel honored to have been able to play with and mostly against these guys.

regards,
kjetil

I still seemed to be overlooked here, I've been able to beat quite a couple of people there, and multipule times to boot. I have quite a few KOTH wins under my belt, only time I don't win now is because I am not there to finish the whole thing, and even then I still come out with a win or a be a wabbit. Everytime I'm there at KOTH to finish it I win. Anytime someone wants me to prove it, I would be glad to.

I have none of that and got one honorary mention!  :neener:

Since we're in a self-promoting mood, I nominate myself as one of, if not THE, worst stick in the game.

Lot of great sticks on the list.  Ill leave it  to others who they think is the best. I suck so bad the list would be huge. I can give an ok fight. But the ones that can own me. <S> you know who you are.

I find it interesting of how much skill they do have to be in the top 1%. but the difference between the top 1% and the top 5% can still be night and day.

I desagree.  I think the differences at top are very small. They could mean that player a beats player b 100% of the time but all it would take to equilize them is a small adjustment and the rolles will be reversed. Of corse player A will adjust eventually reversing the roles again. This process goes on constantly and that us why you cant have one best. Depends on the day. That is for top 10%. Below that theres chaos lol

Told someone I was training just yesterday that the diff. between the top 10 and the top 100 is energy management.  The top 10 can squeeze that LITTLE EXTRA out of their rides and gain angle/advantage.

Id have to disagree about the difference being energy. IMO the piloting ability of the top 10% is about the same, the aim though is where the difference is made, I know alot of the good sticks "give a shot, to take a shot" and they win the fight because they make the shot.

Hey Ded we are in violent agreement. on the top sticks

If you take the top 6% and they can beat the other 94% most of the time. If you then take the top 1% they can beat the next 5% most of the time.  IM not so sure it is the top 10% of sticks. If there are just 6000 sticks in the game the top 1% would be just about 60 names. Of the top 60 we are in agreement. I just don't think that there are 60 names on the list.

Just my 2cents worth.

I think something being missed here is time spent in the game flying too.  Anyone of the 'top sticks' would surely show rust and lose the edge if they weren't flying as much as they do.  That and a person has to have the desire to be one of those 'top sticks' for whatever it's worth, if anything.

The other balancing act is maintaining the fun at the same time.  Any of us that have been playing AH or back to AW and WB can name any number of 'top sticks' who got so wrapped up in it that they got miserable and their fun disappeared as they read their press clippings and felt the need to prove it to the point they never lost a fight legitimately.

As long as it remains fun, go for it  :aok

I have noticed previously that HTC seems to use moderators that employ a double standard with certain individuals.

I want everyone to know that my entire squad has been watching and reading your threads about this. Personally I find it insulting and immature of you but that is in keeping with many of your personalities and I guess thats all part of being geeks on the internet.

Many of my squad members (not all of them and certainly not myself) are members of the law enforcement community extending from the streets to international intelligence gathering. It would not hurt some of their resumes to put someone guilty of the crimes you have outlined into the court system and prosecute him. So... if you have ROCK HARD evidence that I am this individual AND you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that there has been a crime commited (and scamming the community out of money as Lute suggested would be a crime alright) then post your evidence... otherwise you are engaging in a crime yourselves.

Personally I look at it like this (after reading god knows how many time wasting pages)... we are surrounded by moonbats! If someone told me... 'I own a P-51' and 'I flew an F-16 for Israel' and then suggested they needed contributions to build a video game? Do I even need to tell you my reaction? Only a raving lunatic would buy that (therefore moonbats). If you really fell for that one... prove it to me so I know which moonbats to laugh at. Honestly folks we are playing a video game on the internet and if you want to be a scorpion wielding spy for Israel its fine... really. You really think WAY too much of yourselves but if it floats your boat... cool.

Growing up is still an option too.  :aok

whats funny is you did not once reply in that thread "...flight sim"    if I had even 1 person trying to say that stuff about me I would do what ever it took to show them the error of there ways.... you on the other hand NOT one reply???????????????????????????????????

so as far as I am concerned you are "voss"  and after reading this reply from you, I am even more convinced it is you, for you sound just like a guilty party explaining it away, calling victims in a scam "moonbats" ya you are a real piece of work,  you are without a doubt "exposed" as they say....you are a disgrace to the human race and should be exterminated just like a cockroach would be, stepped on real hard.

Not to hijack the hijack, but this is a respobse to Dan, i think lol.

Getting better is a side effect of having fun. The more you stay up the more you get to fight, the more fun you are having (if fighting is fun for you). So, the better tou get at fighting, the more fun you are having. If bombing is what is fun for someone, then they will get really good at it. So, in my opinion, if you are good at something, you have fun doibg it.

I agree on trying to show every one you are always the best.  That however is a personality/character thing and would apply even in if the person was nowhere near the best. Read thor threads for examples lol

Sorry Voss, but you seem to always bring your squads into it. You did it with 13tas and I as well most of the Hornets stuck up for you while we were with them. Hopefully your current squad doesn't make the same mistake.

I also know it's you flying under the handle of VOSS. Hobuss couldn't manage to score with an 80yr old hooker.

I was not here when this whole Voss thing started, but I will say this.

Personally, I don't know lyric, I have seen him a couple of times in the MA, and most of the time when I have somthing to say to him, it has to be negative. As much as he may not say Chalenge is not Voss (and I will not say weather or not I agree) it his belifs, and I'm sure he is not going to become an assesory to Voss to scam money off of people. I'm pretty sure that lyric has a cool head about that.
Karaya, take it from a freind, don't make this a salem witch trial, if you know what I mean. You can do nothing more than what you have proven to him already.

Unfortunetly, this thread is more than likey going to be locked for the extreme hijack that his has taken, even if it is Voss, because now we are starting to affect other members of the community.

I'm not worried about Chalenge, for I think the evidence is irrefutable, but now when we start to banter people in the community, and to boot he's a respected AH member, to me it sounds a bit uncivilized. I may not agree with some of the things said in this post, but I don't feel the need to start burning them at the steak for it. Most of it dosn't have to do with what I have said. LOL!

Quote
Etymology
According to an article by self-described New York Times "language maven" William Safire, the term was first used by High Altitude fuel conservation expert pilot and game developer Paul "VOSS/Chalenge" Hinds in 2010.[1] Hinds used the term in a 2010 forum thread, "New Bomber Tactic (not so new) ," mainly as a self-descriptive term to describe himself as he flies above 35,000ft while finding new ways to conserve fuel at high altitudes. Descriptions of bat-like people at this altitude has been attributed to the lasting effects of a heart attack enducing bite by the dreaded and often maligned Red Scorpion and also from chemotherapy treatments from a bout of brain cancer. One explanation for the current political use is that the term was derived from the name of liberal author George Monbiot but we all know it's because Chalenge said it and he's cool so we give him credit.

[edit] Examples of usage
Chalenge aka Voss has been closely associated with "Moonbats" since his flights into Iraqi airspace as a member of a super secret intelligence gathering unit. In the early stages of the first Gulf War he was shot down in his F16 while on a superduper secret mission into enemy territory. He survived after finding a family of "Moonbats" that took him in. He later married the Chief "Moonbats" daughter and brought her back to the USA. He now lives in Moonrovia Arkansas with his wife Moonronica and their 2 children. He frequently participates in The annual "Moonbat" telethon on Faux News.
A popular put down of Chalenge, an expert in high altitude fuel conservation, frequently uses "Moonbat" as a defensive response. Some have attributed this to the long lasting effects of being bitten by a red scorpion and his 'black-ops' missions for the CIA during the 1st Gulf War.
TW9 IS a Moonbat
TwinBoom Shot down Chalenge over the Gulf his F-16 was badly Pwned but he claimed it wasnt a fair fight do to the lingering effects of a scorpion bite he suffered in the Leet black ops.

The 'baseless internet accusations' are better than your 'baseless internet defensive'.  If you want to clear Chalenge's name, why don't you post some facts?  Until then, you are looking very foolish defending the guy hook line and sinker.

TC, why? I'm pretty sure that Fester's post was quite clear, and to the point were it was explicit enough for me to understand the details as to what happened back in the Voss days. Just the fact that I don't want to go on a parade for everyone that dosn't want to agree.

<S>

Bosco0/Bosco123, 1st off it looked to me by your wording that you was trying to Flame or Flamebait lyric1

see below:
Personally, I don't know lyric, I have seen him a couple of times in the MA, and most of the time when I have somthing to say to him, it has to be negative.

but then you posted in BOLD about someone being a RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY...... but then Ack Ack quoted you on it, and you replyed this
I was sticking up for lyric, not for Chalenge.

<S>

I was just giving some advice... you did not see the logic in it, but that is ok.. I was simply trying to offer you a helping hand.......

that's ok, your latter post says you was sticking up for lyric1, and not trying to flame him, but your 1st post says the opposite

I believe you are typing SO FAST, that your typing is outrunning your brain thoughts  :D

I will leave you be about this nonsense and all the rest as well, and just sit back a view with amazement and awe about the stupidity of carrying on about Voss' misgivings and what not...... I mean this if there ever was a Dead Horse Beaten er I mean pulverized to beyond identification.....this subject truly is it....

How so?   You never knew about Metatron and the 418th.

From what I know he has not been in any other squad but the one I am in & always a Bishop. Plus I remember Voss being on 200 a long time back while I was flying with Chalange so to me seems unlikely. He has been playing this game pretty much from the beginning & I have no clue who the 418Th Hornets are? They an old squad?

Possibly because I do write in a very eccntric way. Apologizes, but it has gotten me places to were I wouldn't have got if I didn't know how to write the way I write.

Look I am not going to post personal stuff on the BBS about him or any one else I know in the game it just would not be right unless permission was given.

Plus what could I possibly post that would convince any one any way? I have never met you Grizz & I will leave it up to others of your squad that I have met & others from the game & let them tell you in person that I am not such a bad guy & I would consider my self pretty honest in life & on the BBS. If I thought for an instant I was wrong I would not defend the Voss accusations.

If I look foolish (SO BE IT) out side of our little PC world who cares.

I wish my AKUAG Pilot Stats program was working(someone please PM the link so I can dload it again  :() so I could compare Voss' old stats with Chalenge.  Based off the few tours I've seen of Voss, fishing around the stats archives, it looks like Voss' fav plane was the Temp/Typh and loved to fly extremely timid and never die.  Exactly what Chalenge does/flies.  It also appeared he tanked a lot and rarely died either.  They didn't have the Tiger back then, which is Chalenge's favorite.  Comparing the two eras of AH, it seems the two players played the game identical based off what I've seen from stats.  Just another little piece that seems to fit nicely into the scorpion puzzle.

If someone wanted to do the stats analysis(until I get the program and can do it myself) it could be pretty interesting.  Just be sure to neglect the Voss shades that have popped up over the years.

that ones iffy. alot fly the temp now a days. look up metatron's stats. those would be more recent. alot can change over the course of a decade. and check out what he's killing too. Oh wow! What a find! If this isnt proof enough I feel sorry for ya. Notice the plane preference, the planes shot down, and the scoring mostly in attack mode. These are all nearly identical.
